Diablo 4 Season 13 Finally Reveals the Title, Seasonal Rewards, and Mechanical Changes | More Celebration Events during Season of Reckoning

Apr 24, 2026 Author: D4gold

Just when everyone assumed that Season 13, launching alongside Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred expansion, would share the same title as the expansion itself, the game suddenly released a new announcement on April 23!

This announcement not only provided a comprehensive overview of all Lord of Hatred content and its official launch time, April 27 at 4:00 p.m. PDT, but also revealed the official title for Season 13: Season of Reckoning. It also offered further details regarding the season's content.

In this article, we will focus specifically on introducing the series of major system upgrades brought by Season 13, as well as other brand-new events and activities launching next week that have not been previously revealed!

Diablo 4 Season 13 Finally Reveals the Title, Seasonal Rewards, and Mechanical Changes | More Celebration Events during Season of Reckoning

Season 13 overview

This season will launch simultaneously with Lord of Hatred. If you have already pre-ordered the expansion, you will be able to experience all the new content derived from it within Season 13.

Consequently, Season 13 does not feature any exclusive seasonal mechanics of its own; aside from standard updates to Season Rank and Blessings systems, the focus this time lies primarily on systemic optimizations.

Note that certain Season Rank rewards require you to own the new expansion to unlock. Therefore, while it is theoretically possible to experience Season 13 as a standalone experience, the available content and rewards would be extremely sparse, a path we do not recommend.

What are the mechanical changes?

The changes detailed in this section apply to both Season 13 and Lord of Hatred. Furthermore, they serve as core content that will persist and carry over into future seasons and expansions.

Skill tree upgrades

As the foundation of character building, the skill tree system has always held an indispensable position in Diablo 4. This major overhaul begins by introducing new options to the overall structure, alongside a rework of several existing skills.

Additionally, certain passive skills have been removed from the skill tree and relocated to Legendary Aspects and Unique systems, both of which have also undergone optimization. Conversely, a few specific aspects have been moved into the skill tree.

More specifically, the revamped Skill Tree now comprises three distinct branches. These branches unlock gradually as your character levels up, and each branch grants access to an exclusive modifier.

Access to the third branch, and the expanded build-crafting options provided by its unique skill variant mechanics, is exclusive to owners of Lord of Hatred expansion.

These skill variants level up automatically as the corresponding base skills are upgraded, requiring no additional material consumption. Furthermore, they can even fundamentally alter a skill's category or type, making them both incredibly interesting and powerful!

Beyond these general changes, Druid and Necromancer classes have also received exclusive updates to their skill trees. If you plan to play either of these classes, be sure to come prepared!

New loot filter feature

Previously, after a battle ended, you would often have to spend precious time sifting through a chaotic pile of loot just to find the truly useful Diablo 4 items. Now, however, a dedicated Loot Filter is on the way!

This feature allows you to tag and categorize your items using labels, color-coding, and other methods, so you can quickly identify the specific gear you need most.

You can create multiple custom filters, though only one can be active at a time; you can access this feature within Gameplay tab of Options menu.

If you're looking to save some effort, you can also use import codes to instantly load filters created by other players. Naturally, you can also export your own custom filters to share with the community.

Character levels and difficulty tiers

Starting in Season 13, the maximum character level cap has been raised to 70. Additionally, Torment difficulty setting, which previously consisted of just four tiers, has been expanded to include 12 distinct tiers.

While this means you will face greater dangers, the addition of other new features and mechanics ensures that you also have ample room to further enhance your character's power.

Item system updates

First and foremost, your item inventory capacity has been increased to 1,000 slots. Other significant updates to the item system include revisions to item rarity tiers, optimizations to damage multiplier calculations, greater flexibility in how affixes are combined, and the introduction of even more Uniques.

Map overlay and pathfinder

The purpose of these two new features is to boost your travel efficiency by optimizing the display of your map and intended path. This helps prevent you from wasting time simply trying to navigate the terrain, allowing you to focus your full attention on the combat itself.

Season Rank and Blessings

With the introduction of Lord of Hatred storyline this season, the tasks and rewards available through Season Rank progression system are more abundant than ever before.

In total, by completing over 100 distinct objectives, organized across nine different tiers, you can earn skill points, Paragon points, cosmetics, a wide variety of crafting materials, and much more. If you manage to unlock every single reward, you can even earn up to 14 Resplendent Sparks!

As for how Season Blessings work, the mechanics remain largely unchanged. Your objective is still to earn Smoldering Ashes by completing seasonal objectives or progressing through the main storyline, which you can then redeem to unlock specific blessings.

Seasonal Reliquary

Reliquary is essentially a new iteration of Seasonal Journey from previous seasons, comprising one free Reliquary and three additional Reliquaries included in Premium Pass.

The rewards contained within these Reliquaries must be redeemed using Favor, a currency earned simply by playing the game, and consist primarily of premium items and cosmetic customizations.

If you unlock all four Reliquaries, or if you opt to get Deluxe Battle Pass right from the start, you will also unlock the ultimate reward: the season-exclusive Hallowed Ancient armor set!

Tower and Leaderboard updates

Tower and Leaderboard Beta will reopen on April 30th at 11:00 AM. For its return, Tower features new enemies, combat environments, and rewards, and now includes an exclusive solo leaderboard specifically for the new class, Warlock.

Additional celebration events

To celebrate the launch of Lord of Hatred, Diablo will kick things off on launch day with the simultaneous debut of Hatred's Downfall Community Challenge: once the cumulative Paragon Points earned by all players worldwide reach a total of 266,600,000, every player will receive Crown of Hatred reward!

But the surprises don't stop there: KoЯn has composed a new single for Diablo 4 titled Reward the Scars; Jackson Kelly and Lord of Hatred are releasing a limited-edition collaborative guitar; and there will be even more Twitch Drops available.

Finally, as 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of Diablo franchise, Season 13 will also feature an Overwatch crossover event running until May 10th!

All in all, the combination of Season 13 and Lord of Hatred promises to deliver an incredibly rich and thrilling gaming experience for at least the next two months! We simply can't wait!
