Is the Third Diablo 4 Expansion Titled Reign of Destruction? More Rumors Await the Final Reveal at BlizzCon 2026!
BlizzCon 2026 is just around the corner. If Diablo 4 is the game you are most interested in for this major event, there may be more exciting news in store for you beyond just potential content for Season 15.
In fact, recent leaks and rumors have suggested that Diablo 4 might expand its open world with a new region to the west, and that announcements regarding a new expansion and class could be made at BlizzCon 2026.
As the event approaches, a fresh wave of information has surfaced, focusing on a potential third expansion, with rumors even circulating that it might be titled Reign of Destruction.
Where is this information coming from, and how reliable is it? We'll break it down for you and further fuel your anticipation for BlizzCon 2026.

Reign of Destruction rumor
As always, the eyes of the global gaming community are fixed on BlizzCon in the lead-up to the event. Before the show officially kicks off, nothing gets the community more excited than the leaks circulating behind the scenes.
As the hottest and newest entry in the franchise, rumors about the future of Diablo 4 are spreading rapidly across forums, social media, and various player groups.
Among the many rumors, one particular scoop from a Chinese news site has likely caught your attention in recent days.
The report claims that a third expansion for Diablo 4 is already in the planning and development stages, centering on Baal, Lord of Destruction and the most famous villain in Diablo series. It even hints that the new expansion will be titled Reign of Destruction.

Will there be a new class?
Beyond expansions and new bosses, the possibility of a new class is likely another key point of interest for you. Along with the revelation of Reign of Destruction title, some eye-catching concept art for a new class has been circulating within Diablo 4 community.
The images showcase a character resembling a Witch Hunter or Demon Hunter; strikingly, their right arm is equipped with a combination of industrial-style firearms and hand crossbows.
If you are familiar with Diablo series, you know that while the game's world is entirely fictional, its overall style and setting evoke an ancient atmosphere; the available gear and skills consist primarily of traditional melee weaponry or arcane magic and dark arts.
If the rumored Witch or Demon Hunter classes were to actually utilize firearms, it would not only subvert the game's established aesthetic but likely signal a massive overhaul of D4 items.
Are these rumors credible?
While the rumors are certainly exciting at first glance, much of the information has already circulated within the community, not to mention that images and video clips of a classic boss like Baal are not hard to find.
Therefore, until an official announcement is made, one cannot rule out the possibility that the content regarding Reign of Destruction and the new class was generated by AI.
However, setting aside the unreliable leaked images, Diablo 4's development roadmap makes the release of a third expansion inevitable; previous expansions like VoH and LoH each introduced a new region to the game.
This lends significant credibility to the rumors about a western region, especially since the western area of Diablo 4's open world remains unexplored territory.
In other words, the third expansion will likely focus on a new region, potentially introduced alongside the arrival of a mysterious new faction. In this context, the title Reign of Destruction feels highly appropriate.
As for the new class, introducing one in a new expansion is standard practice for Diablo 4, there is little doubt about that, though it remains to be seen whether the new class will actually wield firearms.
After all, players have previously datamined information regarding hand crossbows, as well as data hinting at new content related to movement mechanics and Cow Level.
Why is Baal the next main boss?
Diablo series features many bosses worthy of deep exploration, so why do most rumors point to Baal as the central focus for Diablo 4's future?
To begin with, ever since Diablo 2, Baal has stood out as one of the series' most destructive and tragic figures. He not only corrupted Mount Arreat and forced Tyrael to shatter Worldstone with his sword, but he also fundamentally altered the destiny of humanity.
Within the current lore of Diablo 4, the downfall of Inarius and Lilith has clearly created an opening for the return of the three Prime Evils. Meanwhile, the resurrection and machinations of Mephisto have been gradually coming to light across the first two expansions.
As for his brothers Baal and Diablo, they certainly won't remain dormant in Abyss for long; indeed, both villains appeared in imagery showcased by Diablo 4 team at BlizzCon 2026.
Should Baal make a full-fledged return to Diablo 4, his classic abilities would deliver spectacular visual effects powered by the game's advanced modern engine, captivating both veteran fans and newcomers alike.
More cross-media art projects
Beyond updates on the game's future, BlizzCon 2026 might also reveal cross-media collaborations based on the franchise, such as dedicated films or animated series.
Diablo 4 has consistently excelled in its narrative design and cinematic sequences. Unveiling unexpected announcements to mark the franchise's 30th anniversary would undoubtedly generate tremendous excitement.
That covers everything we have to share for now. Please treat these rumors as speculation; the final details will only be confirmed when officially announced at BlizzCon 2026. If you can't attend in person, be sure to tune in to the livestream on time to claim your Twitch Drops!
Diablo 4 Season 15 Hidden Change: Single-Element Resistance Jumps Nearly 5x | Will It Redefine Endgame Builds?
There is a significant change in Diablo 4 Season 15 PTR that was not mentioned in the official patch notes: the values for single-element resistance affixes have seen a nearly fivefold increase. In the current Season 14, the cap for single-element resistance affixes is merely 630, whereas in PTR, this figure has surged to a maximum of approximately 3,000. Although unannounced, this change will have profound implications for defensive systems and endgame build optimization.
Based on PTR test data and community-verified information, this article analyzes the actual benefits of this change and discusses strategies for adapting to it.
The Core Change: A Massive Leap in Single-Element Resistance Values

In the current live version of the game, single-element resistance affixes are largely ignored for a simple reason: the values are too low. A single-element resistance affix providing 630 points pales in comparison to All Resistance values that can easily reach the tens of thousands. Consequently, players rarely consider these affixes when gearing up, opting instead for All Resistance or more versatile defensive stats.
However, in 3.2.0 PTR, the value of single-element resistance affixes has been raised to a maximum of around 3,000 - roughly equivalent to the resistance provided by a top-tier gem. This means that slotting a single-element resistance affix onto a piece of gear no longer offers a negligible benefit; instead, it provides a substantial, tangible boost to the character's effective health pool (EHP) against that specific element.
Charms Affix Unlocked

Beyond the increase in gear affix values, another unannounced yet significant change concerns Diablo 4's Charm system. On the current live servers, Charms cannot roll both resistance affixes and skill rank affixes simultaneously.
However, on PTR, single-element resistance can now appear as an additional affix alongside skill rank on the same Charm.
For players aiming for an optimized min-maxed build, this is undoubtedly a significant upgrade; a high-quality Charm can now provide core skill ranks while also shoring up the specific resistances the character needs most.
Conversely, obtaining a truly perfect Charm becomes more challenging - after all, you are now chasing two ideal affixes at once.
EHP Benefits: How powerful is single-element resistance?
To help visualize the impact of this change, let's look at EHP calculations.
Suppose you currently have 4,500 Physical Resistance, resulting in 73.2% damage reduction (meaning you take 26.8% of incoming physical damage). If you equip a Harlequin Crest providing roughly 3,500 Physical Resistance (equivalent to a single-element resistance affix from Season 15), your total Physical Resistance rises to about 11,000. This increases damage reduction to 82.3% and lowers actual damage taken to 17.7%.
In this scenario, EHP improvement ratio is 26.8% ÷ 17.7% ≈ 1.51; in other words, a single affix boosts your physical EHP by approximately 51%. This is a substantial gain. If your starting resistance is lower, the relative increase would be even greater - potentially reaching 60% or even 80%.
Of course, stacking resistance isn't always cost-effective. As resistance climbs, the actual benefit gained from each additional point of resistance diminishes. For instance, if you already have 11,000 resistance, adding another 2,600 points yields only about a 14% increase in EHP.
In short, single-element resistance offers massive returns when your baseline resistance is low, but gains begin to drop off significantly once you reach the 10,000 to 15,000 range. The smart approach is to prioritize bolstering defenses against the types of damage that threaten you the most.
Practical Application: How to Optimize Resistances for Different Scenarios?
Once you understand the mechanics, the key lies in applying them to actual gameplay.
General Farming and Standard Builds
For routine farming, there is no need to stack a specific resistance to extreme levels. A more sensible approach is to ensure all six resistances reach a sufficient baseline, avoiding any major vulnerabilities. Generally, Physical, Fire, and Lightning resistances are top priorities, though the exact order depends on your preferred content and build.
Specific Bosses
Take Mephisto boss fight, for example; a significant portion of the damage dealt is Shadow damage. You can temporarily boost your Shadow resistance - such as by socketing two Amethysts and one Skull into your jewelry - to maximize protection against that element.
In other words, when facing different bosses in D4, you don't need to stick to a static gem setup; adjusting based on the boss's primary damage type is key, and simply balancing resistances evenly isn't always the best choice.

Gear Strategy: Balancing Health, Armor, and Resistances
In Diablo 4 endgame, every affix slot is incredibly valuable. So, how should you weigh the trade-offs between Health, Armor, and single-element resistances?
In the late game, players spend vast amounts of Diablo 4 gold rerolling affixes, tweaking gear, and testing different builds. With affix slots at a premium, how do you choose between Health, Armor, and specific elemental resistances?
If your character already has a maximum health pool of around 30,000 to 40,000, adding another Health affix usually yields diminishing returns regarding overall survivability. The same applies to Armor; stacking more offers little benefit once you already have high Armor values on pieces like chest armor and pants.
In contrast, if a specific resistance is notably low, a single-element resistance affix can boost your EHP against that damage type by up to 50%. Therefore, when facing specific, lethal damage types, investing in targeted resistance affixes is often the most cost-effective strategy.
Regarding Charms, resistance affixes offer essentially free defensive value - allowing you to gain significant resistance without sacrificing any offensive benefits. If the six Charms are used to balance out your resistances, you can expect a 10% to 20% boost to your overall EHP - effectively granting you the equivalent of half a defensive Aspect for free.
All in all, while the buffs to single-element resistances in Diablo 4 Season 15 PTR didn't make the official patch notes, their impact is significant. Single-resistance affixes - previously largely ignored - have now become a defensive option worth serious consideration for endgame builds; players will enjoy greater flexibility in fine-tuning their setups, particularly when utilizing Charms or tailoring builds to counter specific damage types.
BlizzCon 2026 Diablo 4 What's Next Showcase: Full Schedule, Twitch Drops & Season 15 Preview
With the opening of BlizzCon on September 12 fast approaching, excitement among players is reaching a fever pitch, and we have some great news. The development team has released the full schedule for Diablo 4, covering everything from panels to Twitch Drops.
Below, we've organized a complete viewing guide for Diablo 4, sorted by time and key highlights.
September 12 (Saturday)
10:15 AM (PT)
Kicking things off is the opening ceremony on the Main Stage. Executives and franchise leads will announce major news, with Diablo 4 taking center stage as they reveal broad plans for the future of Sanctuary.
If you can only watch one event this weekend, the opening ceremony is the one you shouldn't miss. You can watch it on YouTube.com/Diablo and Twitch.tv/Diablo; it will also be broadcast simultaneously on the developer's main channel.
1:45 PM (PT)
Following the opening ceremony, the Main Stage will host Diablo: Developer Update.
This session offers a chance to hear the development team discuss the philosophy, craftsmanship, and ambitions that shape the franchise.
However, the description for this segment is broad; it could cover Diablo 4, Diablo 2: Resurrected, Diablo Immortal, unannounced projects, or even content beyond the games themselves, making it one of the weekend's biggest wildcards.
4:15 PM (PT)
Once the developer discussion wraps up, the Legends Stage will present The Art of Darkness: Behind Diablo 4's Cinematics.
Diablo 4 cinematics team will share insights into visual storytelling, performance, animation, and behind-the-scenes production - a perfect session for players interested in the game's narrative and artistic presentation.

September 13 (Sunday)
10:00 AM (PT)
Day two of BlizzCon kicks off at the Immortal Stage with a Diablo Immortal live art session. The art team will create art live alongside a special guest while discussing the creative process behind the game's characters and world-building.
11:00 AM (PT)
Attention players: Diablo 4: What's Next session on the Main Stage at 11:00 AM is a must-watch.
Set against the backdrop of the 30th-anniversary celebration of darkness, this session will preview upcoming content, features, and more.
While earlier schedules listed both Main Stage events simply as Developer Updates, this Sunday session has been renamed and confirmed as a dedicated Diablo 4 showcase.
It is reasonable to expect the development team to provide key details regarding Season 15 during this session.
We can likely look forward to a comprehensive overview of Season 15 mechanics, content updates, reward structures, and more.
While the opening ceremony outlined the game's general direction, this is the session that will truly reveal what Diablo 4 gameplay will look like moving forward.
However, now that we know Soul Splinters are the core mechanic of Diablo 4 Season 15, we can make an educated guess: the new season will probably be titled Season of Soul Splinters.
This title would not only highlight the season's core mechanic but also align with the game's ongoing narrative themes revolving around souls, Hell, and Mephisto.
3:15 PM (PT)
Finally, the Main Stage will host Voices of Blizzard, where voice actors share behind-the-scenes stories from the recording studio and look back at iconic performances.
Although not exclusively focused on Diablo 4, the atmosphere is usually fun and relaxed; feel free to tune in based on your schedule.
Creators and Livestreams
Throughout the weekend, top Diablo creators will be livestreaming directly from the event floor, with members of the development team joining select interviews.
If you would prefer to hear the development team talk about Diablo 4 firsthand, keep an eye out for interviews with those creators; Q&A sessions are often more direct than Main Stage presentations, making it easier to get specific details.
Twitch Drops and Badges
If you have time to watch the BlizzCon livestream, be sure to check out the rewards available.
From 10:00 AM on September 12 to 9:59 AM on September 15, simply watch any stream in Diablo 4 category on Twitch to unlock cosmetic items for every two hours of viewing:
- 2 hours: Serrated Skean Dagger
- 4 hours: Corroded Cleaver Axe
- 6 hours: Tintinnabulation Two-Handed Mace

If you were already planning to watch Diablo 4: What's Next presentation, you can easily snag all three rewards by keeping a stream in Diablo 4 category running for a total of six hours.
Furthermore, you don't need to own Lord of Hatred expansion to claim these Diablo 4 items; simply linking the relevant accounts beforehand is all that's required.
Players might have noticed that the name of the six-hour reward - Tintinnabulation - refers to the ringing of bells. This seems to echo Moophisto clues previously uncovered by the community through data-mining.
If the content revealed during Diablo 4: What's Next involves bells, souls, Mephisto, or cows, then this drop's name serves as a cleverly planted Easter egg.
Additionally, there is a special BlizzCon-exclusive Diablo Twitch badge to celebrate the franchise's 30th anniversary.
From 10:00 AM on September 12 to 9:59 AM on September 26, the badge will be automatically added to your chat identity once you unlock at least one subscription to any creator within any Diablo-related category.
While information regarding Diablo 4 Season 15 theme remains speculative, the fact that the development team is saving details for the showcase - combined with the bell-like connotations in the names of the dropped items - suggests that Diablo 4: What's Next panel this weekend will likely provide the answers.
Diablo 4 Season 15 Best Leveling Methods | How to Farm XP from Level 1 to 70?
Diablo 4 Season 15 is coming soon, and you can decide on your leveling plan in advance so that you will not be scrambling once the season begins.
Going from Level 1 to Level 70 is not difficult, but that is far from the end. Reaching the maximum level on Paragon Board requires a huge amount of XP and time, so preparing your XP farming strategy in advance can save you a great deal of time.

Campaign Phase Tips
First, choose your preferred class, then check Story Complete when creating your character to enter the endgame content directly.
Remember to select Normal difficulty when starting. There is no need to create unnecessary trouble for yourself. Your goal is not to challenge the strongest monsters, but to kill everything as quickly as possible. If increasing the difficulty doubles your kill time, it will only slow down your overall progress.
Once you enter the game, teleport to Temis, set up your pet and mercenary, and collect all available support Diablo 4 items. Then speak with Tyrael to unlock War Plans system.
You need to look for a Double Helltide node combination. If the current plan does not contain Helltide, you can try refreshing the plan. If Double Helltide still does not appear after refreshing, you can delete the current character, create a new one, and repeat the process above.
Your core objective is to use War Plans to quickly level up Helltide tree, which is one of the most effective ways to gain XP.
Also, do not waste time repeatedly checking every piece of gear while leveling quickly. You can Temper Movement Speed onto your boots and amulet to improve your movement efficiency while traveling between objectives.
Your level will increase extremely quickly, and your gear will be replaced frequently. You usually only need to replace an armor piece every 5 to 15 levels, but weapons should be replaced immediately whenever they show an increase in damage, even if they do not have Legendary Aspects. Be sure to pay attention to the weapon’s base damage, as it is the most important foundation of your offensive power.
Helltide

Once you successfully roll Double Helltide, you can start killing monsters on Normal difficulty and quickly build up your Threat Meter. When Threat Meter is full, large numbers of monsters will spawn at the same time, and you need to clear them out quickly.
During this process, do not attack or attempt to kill Hellwyrm. These Elite monsters deal devastating damage that can kill you instantly. Their damage is only significantly reduced after you unlock the first node in War Plans tree. Therefore, make sure to avoid them before unlocking that node.
Once Threat Meter reaches zero, switch to Penitent difficulty, mount up, and ride at full speed toward the chests inside Helltide. Unless absolutely necessary, do not stop to fight enemies along the way. After opening two Chests, immediately teleport back to town and submit your current War Plan.
The XP awarded for completing a War Plan is calculated according to the difficulty you are on when you submit it. In other words, you can easily collect Cinders on Normal difficulty and then submit War Plan on Penitent difficulty to receive the XP reward corresponding to Penitent difficulty.
Also, when your level is still relatively low, nodes in War Plans and The Undercity will generally not appear yet. This actually gives you more opportunities to unlock Helltide nodes.
War Plans
Once Helltide War Plans tree reaches Level 2, you can unlock two key nodes:
- Hellmouth: Allows Hellwyrm to summon additional enemies.
- Writhe and Rot: Guarantees that Hellwyrm will spawn Maggots.
Writhe and Rot node increases Monster Power, but the large amount of XP provided by Maggots far exceeds what normal monsters can offer, making the trade-off worthwhile.
These Maggots provide massive amounts of experience, far more than normal monsters. Even with the increased Monster Power, the XP gains are still well worth it.
The advantage of this strategy is that opening various Chests allows you to obtain a large amount of gear and crafting materials early on. In addition, completing Whispers in Helltide provides additional XP.
War Plans Only
The early stage of this strategy also requires you to unlock Hellmouth and Writhe and Rot as quickly as possible, but instead of focusing on Helltide, you can use War Plans to participate in other activities.
As War Plans tree expands, The Undercity will eventually be unlocked. At that point, it is recommended to prioritize the route on the left and unlock Jade Epiphany. This node grants XP Orbs based on your Attunement Level.
When entering the dungeon during the early stages, do not kill any monsters. Instead, rush directly toward the end of each floor and defeat the boss so that you can unlock this node as quickly as possible.
Another leveling strategy is to continuously complete War Plans starting from Level 1. Although it is not the fastest way to level, its advantage is that you will have already unlocked multiple nodes in War Plans tree by the time you reach Level 70.
War Plans also guide you through a variety of activities, making the farming experience less repetitive. Submitting War Plans rewards you with a large amount of gear and a considerable amount of XP, while also allowing you to accumulate crafting materials for later use.
The Undercity

The Undercity and its related nodes are not officially unlocked until Level 25, so you need to use other methods to transition before then. In addition, this method provides relatively few Diablo 4 items.
You only need to unlock Jade Epiphany to run this strategy. Once you reach Attunement Level 4, stop killing monsters and sprint directly to the final boss. Defeat the boss, then immediately start the next dungeon run.
This method requires neither War Plan submissions nor difficulty changes. Once you complete one run of The Undercity, you can immediately start the next one. If your only goal is to reach Level 70 as quickly as possible, this method is extremely effective. However, in the endgame, its output is inferior to Helltide.
In addition to the strategies above, you can also team up with other players to level in Diablo 4 Season 15. You will receive an XP bonus, and leveling together is more enjoyable than progressing alone.
