Diablo 4 Season 13 & Lord of Hatred Fastest Leveling Guide from 1 to 70 | You're probably not following

Apr 27, 2026 Author: D4gold

Diablo 4 Season 13 and Lord of Hatred expansion are about to bring the most insane full reset the game has ever seen. Every class's skill tree has changed to varying degrees, primarily because all passive skills have been removed, and the level cap has been raised to 70.

The leveling experience in the new season will be completely different. The tips below will help you go from level 1 all the way to 70 faster and more smoothly, ultimately pushing into the endgame.

Diablo 4 Season 13 & Lord of Hatred Fastest Leveling Guide from 1 to 70 | You're probably not following

Preparation

Leveling Build

No matter which class you choose, it's best to pick a leveling build first. Some players allocate skill points and gear directly according to an endgame build, thinking this saves time when transitioning to the endgame - that's a terrible idea. These endgame setups either rely on specific gear or on skills that only become truly powerful later. Leveling with endgame build point allocation will greatly increase the time it takes you to clear the campaign.

Campaign Status

If you own Lord of Hatred expansion, you must pay close attention to Campaign Status option when creating your character. Never choose the base campaign or Vessel of Hatred campaign, and do not select the temporarily locked endgame option.

You need to explicitly pick the one with Mephisto icon, which starts the campaign of Lord of Hatred expansion directly. You will need to create a brand-new Seasonal Character and fully explore the new area you are about to venture into. Also note that after the expansion launches, the season may start with a short delay. You need to be patient and wait until you can create and log into a seasonal character.

Difficulty

It is strongly recommended that all players start on Normal difficulty, especially those experiencing the new campaign. Based on reviewer feedback, fully completing the expansion campaign takes around eight hours and leaves you only at around level 45 to 50, which shows the campaign itself does not grant abundant experience.

If you get stuck fighting bosses on higher difficulties like Penitent just for a little extra experience, it will severely slow down your campaign progress. Blasting through the story on Normal difficulty is the most efficient choice.

XP Sources

The core experience sources throughout the entire leveling process mainly come from three activities: Helltides, Whisper Caches, and Nightmare Dungeons. Among them, Helltides are widely recognized as the fastest way to level.

You can enter a Helltide zone on Normal difficulty, quickly slay monsters to accumulate Cinders, aiming for 800 to 1000, and do not open any chests during that time.

Once you have enough Cinders, immediately head back to World Statue in town and switch the difficulty to the highest tier you can handle. Penitent difficulty is recommended at minimum, as it grants a 175% bonus to monster kill experience, and Whisper Caches also yield much better experience when opened on higher difficulties.

If you feel your build is strong enough to handle the next difficulty, you can raise the world tier. As long as you can kill monsters on the new difficulty just as quickly as on the previous one, you can confidently push to a higher difficulty.

Leveling Route

Levels 1–15

After entering the game, prioritize completing the campaign or skip it. As you progress, keep an eye out for experience-boosting items such as Forgotten Wisdoms, and start accumulating your first Nightmare Dungeon Sigil to prepare for later. Upon reaching level 10, you will unlock Tempering system. At this point, look for Elemental Surge Tempering Manual. Although its values scale with your level, the extra damage it provides far exceeds your character's own output during the early stages.

Levels 15–30

After reaching level 15, prioritize completing your class quest (the unlock levels vary by class). If you already completed this quest in a previous season or on Eternal Realm, you do not need to repeat it; however, running it again can reward you with Tempering Manuals and Legendary gear. Given that drop rates may be adjusted, it is still worth doing. During this phase, consider raising the difficulty to Hard via World Statue to gain more experience and Diablo 4 gold.

When you return to town, remember to swap in better gear and enhance it with Tempering, gems, and runes. Since you level quickly early on, avoid frequent trips back to town - doing a full re-gear roughly every 10 levels is enough.

Levels 30–40

At this stage, you can open Codex of Power and filter for Aspects that are unlockable through dungeons. Once you find your target, use Mark on Map function, and the system will automatically guide you to the corresponding dungeon. This is a good window to purposefully unlock key Aspects.

It is also recommended to challenge the first Capstone Dungeon within this level range. The monsters inside are fixed at level 30; if you charge in at level 20 you'll be heavily suppressed, but if you enter at level 40 you can steamroll through it.

Levels 40–50

In this level range, Strongholds begin granting substantial amounts of experience. You can choose to continue farming Helltides or go for Strongholds - whatever fits your character's leveling rhythm works.

Levels 50–70

After reaching level 50, it is time to start preparing for the highest difficulty. You will need to repeatedly run Nightmare Dungeons to obtain Glyphs and Masterworking materials while finishing off your remaining Aspects.

Afterwards, you must challenge the second Capstone Dungeon, Vault of the Crucible, which has to be completed on Torment difficulty. Once cleared, you will be able to access The Pit from town. After completing The Pit tier 10, head to World Statue to unlock Torment 1 difficulty.

Endgame

After entering Torment 1, Ancestral Gear will begin dropping across the world. Keep in mind that in the new season, Ancestral items no longer equal Greater Affixes; the item system has undergone considerable adjustments. Infernal Hordes in the current version provides a steady source of gear with stronger affixes and may become one of the core activities for farming equipment.

I hope the above helps you get a head start in Lord of Hatred and Season 13. The global launch of the new expansion is something worth celebrating for all D4 players, and even if this isn't the most efficient leveling route, the journey itself will still bring you plenty of fun.
