Diablo 4 Season 15 Class Tier List: Warlock Dominates as Spiritborn Falls Behind

Sep 15, 2026 Author: D4gold

The class balance changes in Diablo 4 Season 15 (Season of Hell's Legacy) are exceptionally extensive compared to previous seasonal updates. For the first time, the developers have utilized core stat scalars as a primary lever for class balancing, simultaneously adjusting the base damage coefficients for all eight classes.

This means the current round of balancing goes beyond simple numerical tweaks to specific skills or builds; it directly alters the underlying damage scaling mechanisms, creating a ripple effect that impacts gear, Paragon boards, skills, and overall build power.

Meanwhile, a new type of Diablo 4 items - Soul Splinters - has further shifted build logic, offering players a high-risk, high-reward progression path. Class-specific Uniques and set bonuses have also undergone near-rework-level adjustments, significantly altering the dominant playstyles and power curves for several classes.

Below is the power ranking based on current class performance:

  • S: Warlock
  • A: Rogue, Barbarian
  • B+: Druid, Necromancer
  • B: Sorcerer
  • C: Paladin
  • D: Spiritborn

Diablo 4 Season 15 Class Tier List: Warlock Dominates as Spiritborn Falls Behind

Tier S: Warlock

Warlock received the most extensive set of changes among all classes in Season 15. Ultimate skills such as Dark Prison, Bombardment, and Spear of Chaos can now be cast while moving. While this change doesn't directly boost damage numbers, it fundamentally transforms Warlock's gameplay experience: you can unleash a continuous stream of damage while actively repositioning to avoid incoming attacks.

What truly elevates Warlock to god-tier status is the synergy between Splinter of the Black Soulstone and the class's minion-summoning mechanics. The base effect of this Soul Splinter allows the player to absorb a soul upon killing an enemy (lasting 15 seconds); each soul grants a 5% damage boost but also increases damage taken by 0.5%.

Crucially, demons summoned via Warlock's Bombardment and Blazing Scream skills count as killed when they expire, thereby triggering the soul absorption effect. This interaction allows Warlock to stack up to 200-300 souls within seconds, resulting in a massive 1,000% to 1,500% increase in damage. Destruction Demon variant of Metamorphosis has also received a significant buff: the damage bonus per stack of Hellfire skill has increased from 4% to 6%; at skill level 25, the actual bonus per cast can reach 8% to 9%.

Although Dominance bonus from Dynamism Legendary Paragon node has been reduced from 3% to 2.5%, when factoring in the other enhancements, the Warlock's overall damage output remains the highest among all classes.

Tier A: Rogue, Barbarian

Rogue

Rogue saw the fewest changes in D4 Season 15, but no news is good news; Poison-based Penetrating Shot build remains capable of consistently clearing Pit 140+, and Poison variant of Rain of Arrows continues to perform exceptionally well.

The only significant nerf concerns Azurewrath: previously, it caused frozen enemies to explode for area-of-effect damage, but now it simply deals 150% additional damage to frozen targets. While this is a blow to builds that relied on Azurewrath for clearing, Poison Rogue builds do not depend on this item, so the overall impact is limited.

Barbarian

Barbarian's core stat scalar has been reduced from 1.1 to 0.8, meaning the damage bonus provided by every 10 points of Strength has dropped from 1.1% to 0.8%. Based on 3,000 Strength, the previous 330% total damage bonus has fallen to 240%, representing a net loss of approximately 90% damage.

That is not all; the damage of Madawc variant of Call of the Ancients was slashed in half from 240% to 120%, and the bleeding damage from Two-Handed Sword Expertise dropped from 30% to 15%. Fury drain mechanic on Ramaladni's Magnum Opus was also changed from applying out-of-combat to only during combat; while the 7% maximum Fury drain rate is an improvement over the 10% seen in PTR, it still places strain on Barbarian's resource sustainability.

Nevertheless, thanks to having the most weapon slots of any class and a solid skill foundation, Barbarian remains firmly in Tier A. Whirlwind and Charge builds are still capable of efficient clearing in Torment 12.

Tier B+: Druid, Necromancer

Druid

Druid could emerge as the biggest dark horse this season. Song of the Old Mountain set previously suffered from a critical bug that prevented Earth builds from functioning correctly. With this bug now fixed, Earth skills like Landslide, Earth Spike, and Boulder can finally unleash their full intended power. The set's 5-piece bonus causes enemies affected by Petrify to take 100% increased critical strike damage and explode for 200% of the damage absorbed during the Petrify duration.

Buffs to Fleshrender have also opened the door for Tornado builds: the damage bonus for returning Tornadoes has been raised from the previous 40%-50% range to 100%-135%. Tornado Druid could become a competitive mid-to-high-tier build.

Necromancer

Buffs to Necromancer cannot be overlooked either. Its core stat scalar has increased from 1.25 to 1.625, matching the gains enjoyed by Paladin and Druid. Soulrift has gained a Shadow Damage scaling mechanic, significantly boosting its synergy with Darkness-themed builds.

Army of the Dead can now stack during its duration; each cast summons additional explosive skeletal warriors, up to a maximum of 5 stacks. Although Rathma's Waking Touch 5-piece set bonus for Army of the Dead was reduced from 450% to 200%, the bonus type was changed to Summoning Damage, meaning it now applies to all summons. In other words, a nerf to a single skill has effectively translated into a buff for the entire summoning archetype.

Tier B: Sorcerer

Sorcerer received an increase to its Intelligence scalar (matching the 1.625 coefficient of Druid, Necromancer, and Paladin). Orbital version of Ball Lightning can now be cast while moving, Deep Freeze gained an Ice Spike generation mechanic, and Meteor received a damage boost.

However, Sorcerer faces challenges regarding build diversity. Flame Wall remains the only truly viable build; while other skills received numerical buffs, they lack the necessary mechanical support to form cohesive endgame setups. In testing, optimized Sorcerer builds could clear roughly Pit levels 115 to 120, showing a clear performance gap compared to the high-end capabilities of other classes.

Tier C: Paladin

Paladin's situation is nuanced. Developers significantly boosted Paladin's Strength scaling factor from 1.25 to 1.625. Based on 3,000 Strength, the damage bonus jumps from 375% to 487.5% - a net increase of over 100%. Shield of Retribution variant of Blessed Shield now correctly scales with Thorns damage, and both Zeal and Divine Lance have received damage buffs.

However, Paladin's fundamental issue is a lack of sources for high-multiplier multiplicative damage. Even with an optimized maxed-out build, the final damage multiplier remains more than 2,000% lower than that of other classes. Consequently, despite the significant boost from Strength, Paladin still struggles to compete with other classes when pushing deep into Pit.

Diablo 4 Pit

Tier D: Spiritborn

Spiritborn's decline is the most dramatic story of Diablo 4 Season 15. In Season 14, the class gained an extra ~600% damage bonus due to a bug involving Tzic Rune, allowing Concussive Stomp builds to dominate the leaderboards. Developers have since fixed this bug without providing any direct compensatory damage buffs.

Diablo 4 Tzic Rune

What does a 600% loss in damage mean? Simply put, a skill that previously dealt 10 million damage now deals only about 1.4 million.

However, Spiritborn is not without options. The damage of the third hit of Rock-splitter has been raised from 80% to 110%, and Inner Ferocity damage bonus increased from 75% to 100%. Its Shattered Stone variant now causes Thorns damage to scale with skill level.

Since Basic Skills can easily be boosted beyond level 40 through gear and Charms, a Thorns-based Spiritborn theoretically possesses significant growth potential.

Regarding Paragon nodes, Bitter Medicine gained 60% extra damage and Convergence gained 40%, while the bonus per stack for Drive rose from 6% to 10%. At the maximum 20 stacks, the damage bonus gained from movement increased from 120% to 200%.

As a result, certain Spiritborn builds can still reach Pit 150 range, though doing so requires highly optimized gear and expert gameplay. However, for the average player, the experience of playing the Spiritborn this season will be noticeably inferior to that of other classes.

In summary, Diablo 4 Season 15 presents a rare, polarized landscape: Warlock leads with overwhelming dominance, whereas Spiritborn requires far more effort to achieve comparable results.

For most players, Warlock, Rogue, and Barbarian offer the most reliable starting points; if you prioritize build variety and growth potential, the underrated buffs to Druid and Necromancer might hold some pleasant surprises. As for Spiritborn - if you fell deeply in love with the class in Season 14, now is the true test of your loyalty.
