  • Does Latest Trailer Hint That Runes Will Appear In Diablo 4 Season 3? - Season 3 Content Revealed

    Jan 15 ,2024

As time goes by, we’re getting very close to the release of Diablo 4 Season 3, but we really have gotten no information about the upcoming season’s content.

    Season 3 Trailer

However, we recently got a 15-second trailer for Season 3, which contains more information we’ll also get on January 16th. Besides showing us some of the story, as well as the new mechanics to come, we can see some additional information from this 15-second trailer.

Does Latest Trailer Hint That Runes Will Appear In Diablo 4 Season 3? - Season 3 Content Revealed

We now find out that it starts with a bunch of chains and gears that appear to be inside some kind of mechanism. As the camera zooms in and through it, a large dark armored guy appears on the other side of it. These circular broken tablets of runes also circle around the armored figure.

At the end of the trailer it says “Evil Looms” and I’m not sure if that’s just words. If they’re trying to imply that this mechanic we’re in is a loom, then it would make sense to have a loom tied to these different Runes.

    Might Runes Show Up?

I do think these Runes are just being tested in this trailer. Because its name has basically been modified, but the modification is just to make the name composed of different Runes symbols. And another trailer has emerged, which also features plenty of Runes. So I do think we’ll get Runes in Season 3.

We might receive Runes or Runewords, and one leak even mentioned some Corrupted Runes. So putting all this information together, I think it’s looking increasingly likely that Season 3’s main mechanic will be tied to Runes or the first iteration of Runewords in Diablo 4.

Prior to Diablo 4’s release, the developers did mention that they hoped to add Runes to Diablo 4 at some point. They started working on Runes when Diablo 4 was first released, but they were later removed from the game. Because the developers didn’t think they could do these tasks correctly, they wanted to save them for Season 3.

The Synergy Of Loom & Runes

Now what’s interesting is that they do seem to be trying to tell us in this trailer that there will be some type of loom as a major part of it.

It also makes sense to own this loom, and maybe you can stitch different Runes into your gear. Meanwhile, this will also add more crafting to the game. Because you’ll be changing your gear more directly by adding these different Runes or Runewords.

Runes are a very popular part of Diablo series, especially Diablo 2. If they’re even remotely good, players will want to keep them. So my guess is that they will also be testing some additional crafting elements. Because they want you to get a piece of gear as your starting point.

So they wanted to add a ton of additional crafting elements that would let you basically completely customize your gear.

You can grab a random piece of gear that might have some slightly better stats. If you have more Diablo 4 Gold budget, there’s a lot you can do with it. It’s even possible that you can turn that slightly decent piece of gear into some of the best, completely different slotted gear than you started with.

I think these potential Looms might actually be a good way to test out some new crafting elements. So I very much think this new Loom may be directly tied to Runes or Runewords. This may become the new main mechanic of Season 3.

    Gauntlet

But also keep in mind that we will get more content. One of them is Gauntlet, which has attracted much attention recently. This is the new Leaderboards system that will also come with Gauntlet’s accompanying dungeons. There will be preset dungeons here, so the dungeons you run in Gauntlet are always the same. This is how you get ranked on leaderboards.

    New Changes

We also know that there will be a lot of balance changes and other content coming to the new season. So Season 3 looks like it’s going to be quite fulfilling, but there are a few other things that make Season 3 more exciting than Seasons 1 and 2.

Because the developers also mentioned this when talking about the development progress of the different seasons and all the different teams working on Diablo 4. Season 3 will be the first truly fully developed season after the release of Diablo 4.

This means that every part of Season 3 will be developed with the knowledge of numerous player complaints and feedback from Seasons 1 and 2. I think this will make it very different from Season 1 and 2.

I think this will be our most player-driven season yet, so I’m very excited about Season 3. Regardless, we’re only a few weeks away from actually getting in and playing Season 3, but that’s all I want to review.
