What Are the Best Classes and Builds in Diablo 4 Season 16?

Author: Lucas Foster Published: Nov 06, 2026 Modified: Nov 06, 2026

Diablo 4 Season 16 PTR has officially ended, and player testing has revealed how each class performs. Many players were concerned that nerfs would significantly weaken their builds, but the test results show that most builds are performing exceptionally well.

Horadric Items allow players to activate two separate five-piece set bonuses simultaneously through special affixes on rings and amulets that grant additional set ranks. This provides a substantial boost to almost every class. Let's use these results to predict how each class will perform in Season 16.

S Tier

Sorceress

Sorceress is performing exceptionally well in Diablo 4 Season 16. Two different builds have already demonstrated the ability to clear Tier 150 during PTR 3.3.0: Ball Lightning Sorcerer and Meteor Sorcerer. Both are highly competitive options.

Even without fully optimized gear, Ball Lightning Sorcerer can speed-farm Tier 140 of The Tower. It offers precise enemy grouping, unlimited Teleport usage, and continuous Overpower stacking, resulting in outstanding screen-clearing efficiency. This could become one of the best farming builds in Season 16.

Meteor Sorcerer, meanwhile, can continuously pull enemies together and bombard them with meteors, dealing massive AoE damage. Firewall Sorcerer can still clear Tier 150 despite its nerfs, while Blizzard Sorcerer also remains a viable option.

Overall, Sorceress has plenty of strong build choices and could become one of the most popular classes this season.

Warlock

Warlock remains extremely powerful. Apocalypse Abyss Warlock deals absurd amounts of damage and can even eliminate Tier 150 bosses with a single hit. However, its gameplay is complicated, its visual effects can become overwhelming, and further nerfs may be on the way. Meanwhile, despite receiving nerfs, Blazing Scream Warlock may still be capable of approaching Tier 150.

By comparison, Dread Claw Abyss Warlock could be a better overall choice. This build automatically triggers Dread Claw through Evade, making its gameplay considerably more accessible. It is particularly suitable for players who are new to Warlock. Simply moving close to a group of enemies can unleash enormous damage, with even greater damage dealt to crowd-controlled targets.

Barbarian

Barbarians can exploit several bugs to achieve infinite damage, allowing them to speed-farm Tier 150 of The Pit. Hopefully, these issues will be fixed before Diablo 4 Season 16 officially launches.

However, even without exploiting any bugs, Flay Barbarian has successfully cleared Tier 150 of The Pit. This build is ideal for players who like basic attacks and DoT, but its farming speed is extremely slow. It is essentially designed specifically for pushing The Pit.

For Barbarian players who prioritize fast farming, Whirlwind remains the recommended choice. While it is not currently the strongest pushing build, combining two five-piece set bonuses allows it to deal substantial damage while maintaining decent speed. It can comfortably reach around Tier 140, making it the preferred option for players who are less interested in pushing The Pit.

Tier A

Rogue

Although Rogue is not quite at the top of the rankings in The Pit during PTR 3.3.0, its various builds are performing remarkably well.

Shadow Imbuement, Rain of Arrows, Poison Trap, and Dance of Knives are relatively close to one another on the leaderboards. This gives Rogue players plenty of excellent options for Season 16.

Rogue is also among the top classes for leveling and speed farming. Dance of Knives is particularly effective during leveling, while Rain of Arrows is a strong option for transitioning into endgame content. These advantages could make Rogue a very popular class this season.

Paladin

Shield of Retribution Paladin remains the class's best build despite receiving nerfs, just as it has for several seasons.

Advanced Paladin is another decent option. It uses Advance as its primary mobility skill and combines it with new boots to unleash 360-degree slashes. This setup generates resources while clearing large groups of enemies.

Overall, however, most Paladin builds outside Shield of Retribution Paladin deliver fairly average results and still fall short of the top-tier options.

Tier B

Spiritborn

Spiritborn receives an exceptionally powerful multiplier from the new season theme's weapon affixes. While regular classes receive one bonus on two-handed weapons, Spiritborn gets nearly three times as much. It also receives roughly half of that bonus on one-handed weapons.

Combined with the multiplicative bonuses provided by set items, both Pure Poison Spiritborn and Poison Evade Spiritborn are extremely powerful.

Tier C

Druid

Druid performs somewhat worse than the top classes, with Leap Druid standing out as its most notable build. Its core mechanics revolve around Trample and Insatiable Fury. After using Trample, the build can repeatedly cast it for two seconds without any meaningful cooldown.

However, the build becomes awkward and loses momentum whenever players leave an area to collect Diablo 4 items or open chests. These interruptions make its overall gameplay feel rather clunky.

Necromancer

Necromancer delivers fairly average results in The Pit during PTR 3.3.0. Its strongest option is Bone Spirit Necromancer, which primarily uses Unfinished Business variant to detonate Bone Spirit. Its damage output is actually quite respectable.

Minions Necromancer remains viable even after receiving nerfs, but it is not particularly impressive. Overall, Necromancer is still on the weaker side and needs further buffs.

The seasonal theme and equipment in Diablo 4 Season 16 have introduced such substantial power creep that almost every class should be capable of pushing Tier 150 on the live servers. Druid and Necromancer need more buffs, while the most extreme Warlock builds should receive some adjustments to give other builds more room to shine.
