Tier B+: Druid, Necromancer
Druid
Druid could emerge as the biggest dark horse this season. Song of the Old Mountain set previously suffered from a critical bug that prevented Earth builds from functioning correctly. With this bug now fixed, Earth skills like Landslide, Earth Spike, and Boulder can finally unleash their full intended power. The set's 5-piece bonus causes enemies affected by Petrify to take 100% increased critical strike damage and explode for 200% of the damage absorbed during the Petrify duration.
Buffs to Fleshrender have also opened the door for Tornado builds: the damage bonus for returning Tornadoes has been raised from the previous 40%-50% range to 100%-135%. Tornado Druid could become a competitive mid-to-high-tier build.
Necromancer
Buffs to Necromancer cannot be overlooked either. Its core stat scalar has increased from 1.25 to 1.625, matching the gains enjoyed by Paladin and Druid. Soulrift has gained a Shadow Damage scaling mechanic, significantly boosting its synergy with Darkness-themed builds.
Army of the Dead can now stack during its duration; each cast summons additional explosive skeletal warriors, up to a maximum of 5 stacks. Although Rathma's Waking Touch 5-piece set bonus for Army of the Dead was reduced from 450% to 200%, the bonus type was changed to Summoning Damage, meaning it now applies to all summons. Tier B: Sorcerer

However, Sorcerer faces challenges regarding build diversity. In this scenario, EHP improvement ratio is 26.8% ÷ 17.7% ≈ 1.51; in other words, a single affix boosts your physical EHP by approximately 51%. This is a substantial gain. If your starting resistance is lower, the relative increase would be even greater - potentially reaching 60% or even 80%.

In short, single-element resistance offers massive returns when your baseline resistance is low, but gains begin to drop off significantly once you reach the 10,000 to 15,000 range. The smart approach is to prioritize bolstering defenses against the types of damage that threaten you the most.
Practical Application: How to Optimize Resistances for Different Scenarios?

General Farming and Standard Builds
For routine farming, there is no need to stack a specific resistance to extreme levels. A more sensible approach is to ensure all six resistances reach a sufficient baseline, avoiding any major vulnerabilities. Generally, Physical, Fire, and Lightning resistances are top priorities, though the exact order depends on your preferred content and build.
Specific Bosses
Take Mephisto boss fight, for example; a significant portion of the damage dealt is Shadow damage. You can temporarily boost your Shadow resistance - such as by socketing two Amethysts and one Skull into your jewelry - to maximize protection against that element.
