Diablo 4 Season 15 Made Auradin Worth Playing Again With the Damage It Needed

Aug 17, 2026 Author: D4gold

Diablo 4 Season 15 has brought renewed attention to some traditional Paladin builds. While the class itself hasn't undergone major changes, the new gear system has allowed some previously overlooked builds, hampered by insufficient damage output, to find new opportunities.

Auradin is one of the most representative examples. This build has always boasted good survivability and a unique combat style, but its lack of damage in higher-level content has consistently limited its development.

However, with the changes in Season 15 gear environment, previously less-discussed gear combinations have begun to show new value. Auradin, which previously relied on survivability and sustained damage to slowly progress, now finally can challenge higher levels.

Core Gameplay

This build centers on Soul Splitters, Leoric's Crown, and Fire-based items, maintaining continuous buffs through aura effects and further enhancing overall damage output through the new gear mechanics.

Compared to a playstyle that relies on burst damage to eliminate enemies, Auradin is more like a continuously operating fighting machine, relying on high survivability and consistent damage to constantly advance the battlefield.

Gear Strategy

In Season 15, Auradin's gear choices are no longer limited to the fixed paths of the past. The new gear combinations allow this playstyle to simultaneously consider Aura effects, fire damage, and defensive capabilities, further leveraging Paladin's advantage in sustained combat.

Core Gear

This core gear combination for Auradin revolves around Leoric's Crown and Soul Splitters.

In Season 15, the damage boost provided by Soul Splitters addresses Auradin's long-standing issue of insufficient damage output, but it also affects the character's original critical strike mechanics.

Leoric's Crown further amplifies the benefits of this, allowing Auradin to go beyond simply slowly whittling down enemies.

Previously, Auradin's biggest problem was that while he could maintain his position on the battlefield, he could not quickly eliminate high-health targets. The addition of Soul Splitters enhances sustained damage output, allowing for a smoother pace when progressing through higher levels.

However, this build also requires players to adjust other slots. Since Soul Splitters sacrifice some critical strike chance, simply stacking damage stats isn't enough; critical strike consistency needs to be compensated for through skills and other gear.

Weapon Combinations

Previously, Auradin relied more on traditional Diablo 4 Items for strength, but Season 15 offers a new option with Griswold's Opus and Herald of Zakarum combination.

Many Paladin builds have historically revolved around Sundered Night, but Auradin's damage output differs from other builds.

It doesn't rely on burst damage from a single skill, but uses Aura, fire damage, and various buffs to continuously reduce enemy health throughout combat. Therefore, Griswold's Opus performs better in this prolonged combat environment.

When paired with Herald of Zakarum, the character can maintain damage output while gaining more stable defensive capabilities. Compared to simply pursuing damage, this combination better aligns with Auradin's playstyle: maintaining Aura effects at the front lines of the battlefield, allowing sustained damage to gradually build an advantage.

Fire System

Auradin's primary damage output still comes from fire, therefore Stone of Jordan plays a crucial role in this build.

Stone of Jordan's new mechanics allow players to build around the highest elemental resistance, converting that resistance to damage output. Therefore, I recommend Diablo 4 players prioritize increasing fire resistance, which improves survivability while further enhancing the damage from the fire system.

Skill Combinations

In Season 15, Auradin's skill core always revolves around Aura.

Fantasy Aura is one of the main sources of damage in this build. It improves overall combat efficiency and, combined with resource-related enhancements, makes the skill rotation smoother. For Auradin, who relies on sustained damage, maintaining Aura effects is more important than pursuing single bursts of damage.

Defiance Aura further enhances Paladin's survivability. In high-level pits, the ability to stand amidst enemy waves and deal damage is Auradin's strength; therefore, this Aura primarily increases health, defense, and recovery, providing Diablo 4 characters with a more stable combat environment.

Holy Light Aura mainly supplements the damage of Judgment system. Although Judgment was buffed in Season 15, it's not currently suitable as the core damage source for this build. In Auradin, it's more like supporting the fire system, making sustained damage more consistent.

Clash requires only a small investment of points. This is because Soul Splitters affect the original critical hit system; Clash helps the character mitigate this loss, making damage output more stable.

Furthermore, Consecration and Fortress can supplement control, defense, and additional damage based on combat needs, improving Auradin's adaptability in different scenarios.

Paragon Board

This Season 15 Auradin Paragon Board selection focuses more on skill rotation and overall stability, supplementing attribute, resource, and defensive needs through different Paragon Boards.

  • The first board is Starter Board, paired with Canny, providing basic attributes and survivability bonuses.
  • The second board uses Relentless with Resplendence to further enhance performance in prolonged battles.
  • The third board is Endure with Judicator, supplementing Judgment system and defensive capabilities.
  • The fourth board is Castle with Spirit, improving resource rotation and skill release efficiency.
  • Finally, Shield Bearer is used with Sentinel to further enhance Paladin's resilience in high-level content.

Through these Paragon Board combinations, Auradin can maintain a relatively stable output environment when facing high-level Diablo 4 pits, while relying on additional defensive nodes to improve survivability, making the overall gameplay more suitable for sustained progression.

Season 15's Auradin doesn't change Paladin's original gameplay logic, but unlike before, the new gear finally solves the problem of insufficient output. It may not be the fastest mob clearing build, but it's stable, and retains Paladin's most distinctive class characteristics.
