Diablo 4 Season 14 Spiritborn Nerfs: Is the Infinite Rushing Claw meta officially Dead?

Jun 10, 2026 Author: D4gold

After Diablo 4 Season 14 PTR 3.1 ended, many players felt their beloved classes were significantly nerfed, including popular classes like Warlock and Barbarian. Unfortunately, Spiritborn was not spared from this nerf and was also quietly adjusted in strength.

Spiritborn's Main Controversial Skill

Rushing Claw has always been a very powerful primary skill for Spiritborn players, often used for speed runs, allowing many Spiritborn players to experience its power. However, Diablo 4 Season 14 directly nerfed Rushing Claw, much to the disappointment of many players.

But the skill itself was never the core reason for the game's imbalance. The real problem stemmed from various long-standing bugs in the game, which indirectly strengthened Rushing Claw and several other Spiritborn skills.

Instead of fixing the underlying bugs, the development team chose to drastically reduce the skill's effect, causing the previously infinitely loopable Rushing Claw build to completely disappear. Shouldn't the development team reconsider this decision to nerf it?

Diablo 4 Season 14 Spiritborn Nerfs: Is the Infinite Rushing Claw meta officially Dead?

Survivability Drastically Reduced

In the latest adjustments, especially after the significant nerf to damage reduction mechanics related to Aspect of Glynn's Anvil, Spiritborn's survivability has become extremely poor.

Previously, players could stack unlimited damage reduction, which certainly needed adjustment, but currently the damage reduction cap is limited to around 40%.

Even so, when Spiritborn players attempt Pit 100-110, they have almost no effective countermeasures against fire or lightning damage, often being one-shotted.

The development team should provide Spiritborn with more defensive tools or alternative damage reduction methods, such as allowing players to sacrifice significant attack power for survivability.

Using the current changes to Spiritborn directly in Season 14 is unfair to Spiritborn's original characteristics.

Skill Diversity Reduced

One of the initial intentions behind Spiritborn's skill rework was to increase the diversity and expressive potential of the class. However, after a series of recent nerfs, the actual effect has been counterproductive.

Spiritborn now seems to have reverted to its state when Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred was first released, with almost all powerful Spiritborn builds relying on Rod of Kepeleke and Sepazontec. And players only need to use a core or basic skill to achieve these playstyles.

Skills like Touch of Death and Payback have also been forced into core roles to complement these Diablo 4 items.

Even if you successfully reach Pit 110 using Stinger build, you cannot escape your dependence on the aforementioned Quarterstaff.

The Contradiction Between Data and Nerf Decisions

Interestingly, Diablo 4 development team once cleared Spiritborn leaderboard, and the top-ranked build before the clear was Rushing Claw build, which still reached Pit 125.

This suggests that Rushing Claw was undoubtedly Spiritborn's most powerful build before its nerf, contradicting the official reasons given for the nerf.

Based on the recently concluded PTR, top-ranked builds were actually based on Rock Splitter skill combined with Sepazontec.

Therefore, instead of continuously suppressing Spiritborn's strongest skills, it would be better to buff the class's other weaker skills and equipment, allowing builds like Rushing Claw to maintain playability and strength without becoming overpowered.

Loss of Mobility and Class Uniqueness

Spiritborn was supposed to be a highly mobile class centered on Dexterity, a key aspect of its unique identity, wasn't it?

However, if you try Spiritborn now, you'll feel a significant decline in both mobility and the smooth, agile combat feel, making Spiritborn less exciting than before.

Since Season 14 hasn't started yet, could we expect Spiritborn to have season-exclusive abilities or more charges for its Potency abilities? This would likely resolve many survivability and mobility issues, making the nerfs less of a waste.

New Season Mechanics Evaluation

The core mechanics of Diablo 4 Season 14 are essentially a return to a previous season's mechanics. Players need to stand within a small circle to complete objectives to progress; while interaction isn't mandatory, it's required throughout the season journey.

During leveling, the rewards and experience provided by the new season's mechanics are not meaningful enough. With a reasonable build, it currently takes approximately 5 hours to level a character from level 1 to 70.

If this time could be reduced to about 3 hours, while increasing drops and rewards, making the leveling experience more fulfilling without reaching the level cap too quickly, then more players would definitely immerse themselves in Season 14.

Mythic Unique Item Controversy

Many players believe that Mythic Unique items should have static affixes. Players have already spent a significant amount of time farming Ancestral Legendaries gear in Diablo 4, then repeatedly rolling in Horadric Cube for perfect stats.

If Mythic Unique items also fall into the same random affix cycle, they lose their inherent Mythic quality, becoming indistinguishable from regular Ancestral Legendaries gear.

It's hard to imagine how difficult Spiritborn class will be in the new season if it continues this nerf in Season 14, coupled with disappointing Mythic Unique items.

Feedback from PTR also reveals that the uncertainty of gear conversion in Horadric Cube frustrates many players.

In short, Mythic Unique items should be rare and unique, not another time-consuming black hole requiring endless stat grinding.

Of course, we shouldn't be completely disheartened about Diablo 4 Season 14 yet. What if the development team sees player feedback before the season officially launches and makes further adjustments? Hopefully, the nerfs to Spiritborn will be mitigated, and there will be more gameplay options in Season 14!
