Diablo 4 Season 14 PTR Coming Early June but Season 13's Problems Pile High

May 23, 2026 Author: D4gold

Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred brings so many fresh mechanics that it might just be the most enjoyable season to date. It's a pity there's no groundbreaking seasonal feature, but Season 14 is something to look forward to.

The development team recently shared news about the next developer update, and PTR for Season 14 is expected to launch as well. Let's go over what has been revealed about the upcoming season.

Diablo 4 Season 14 PTR Coming Early June but Season 13's Problems Pile High

Season 14 Start Date

Based on the in-game Battle Pass end date, Season 14 will probably begin on Tuesday, June 30th - which perfectly aligns with the team's usual seasonal update rhythm. In the history of Diablo 4's seasonal updates, only once was the in-game countdown off by two days because of Paladin's release; otherwise, it has always been accurate.

Sanctuary Sitdown

Season 14 Sanctuary Sitdown will be held on May 28th at 1:00 PM PDT. The event will take place on Sanctuary Discord. This panel will include a Q&A session, focusing on the content of Season 14 PTR.

Keep in mind that this is not a large-scale Campfire Chat, so it won't fully showcase everything in Season 14. However, players will get a glimpse of some upcoming adjustments, especially class balance changes. Storyline content will most likely not appear.

Based on past seasonal patterns, the development team usually opens PTR about a month before a new season goes live. Given the developer Q&A on May 29th, PTR is expected to launch one week after that event - that is, in early June - with testing typically lasting one week.

Barring an expansion release, this pre-season step always takes place. PTR helps effectively find and fix bugs.

Season 13's Issues

Currently, Season 13 has accumulated quite a few problems, and some of them may need to wait until Season 14 to be resolved.

Game Content

War Plans

One of the most criticized issues is that War Plans are not account-wide. When players create a new character, they have to re-upgrade all War Plans from scratch. This becomes extremely tedious, especially for content involving Infernal Hordes. About 90% of the community is calling for this system to be made account-wide, allowing players to save time when trying out other classes.

Stash Tabs

Stash Tabs issue hasn't improved - in fact, it's gotten worse as new content has been added. Currently, gems cannot be directly salvaged because doing so would cause a loss of Gem Fragments, forcing players to hoard large quantities of gems. New additions like Seals, Sets, and Talismans are further squeezing the stash space.

Although the team has raised the stack limit for some materials from 100 to 1,000, the overall pressure remains immense. Simply adding one or two more Stash Tabs is no longer enough - players are asking for many more Stash Tabs.

Infernal Hordes

Infernal Hordes is currently one of the least favored activities among players. By comparison, Nightmare Dungeons, The Pits, and Helltides offer better satisfaction and rewards. Helltides need mechanical adjustments - simply tweaking numbers won't turn things around.

Mythic Seals

Although they have a certain drop rate, obtaining a high-quality Seal with the correct affixes is extremely difficult, even after finding 10, 20, or 30 of them. Players want a way to target-farm them or to see a drop rate increase.

Mythic Charms

Only a handful of players have ever obtained a Mythic Charm in Season 13. Compared to normal Mythic items, the drop rate for Mythic Charms is absurdly low. An average player would never see one in an entire season. This clearly needs adjustment.

Class Balance

Class balance is a core task every season, but in Season 13, the most critical issue isn't even class balance - it's the various bugs.

Warlock

Warlock may be the coolest class right now, whether it's the summoned demons or the massive AoE skill visuals. However, its abilities suffer from excessively long animation locks.

In contrast, Barbarian's War Cries and Iron Skin do not interrupt character actions. Sorcerer's Flame Shield and Frost Nova also don't interrupt gameplay. But every single Warlock skill forces a full animation to play, causing the character to be frequently locked in place. This means that, in addition to primary resources and Dominance, players also have to factor in Warlock's cast times - a design that makes the class feel clunky and somewhat detracts from the experience.

Paladin

Paladin has fallen from being the strongest class in Season 12 to the weakest in Season 13. This isn't because it was heavily nerfed; it's simply because the buffs it received were not as substantial as those given to other classes.

Looking at Leaderboards, the Paladin's speed-farming performance lags far behind other classes. Against a boss where Sorcerer finishes in about four minutes without relying on bugs, Paladin would need roughly ten times the damage output to catch up. It needs a boost in Season 14.

Rogue

Rogue is currently the class with the most bugs, having experienced six different infinite damage bugs over the past month. While the development team has fixed some of them, several remain. This severely undermines the fairness of Leaderboards.

Other Areas for Improvement

Remaining Bugs

There are also numerous infinite-reset bugs currently in the game:

  • Infinite resetting of Mythic Prankster
  • Infinite resetting of Treasure Breaches
  • Infinite resetting of Goblins

Additionally, there is a snapshotting bug that allows players to carry over buffs from Nightmare Dungeons into Infernal Hordes, yielding an absurd amount of Diablo 4 items. These bugs have plagued the game for a long time. Players hope that through PTR and focused community feedback, the development team will thoroughly resolve them before the next season.

With just over a month until the new season, the development team is working hard. Thanks to the upcoming developer livestream and PTR, these issues should be addressed.
