The gem system in Diablo 4 Season 13 has become absolutely unhinged, delivering bonuses that earlier seasons could barely imagine. At the same time, the demand for gems has reached unprecedented levels, and players have never felt such a desperate need for both gems and gem fragments.

Thankfully, Lord of Hatred expansion and a handful of dungeons bring plenty of ways to farm gems, helping you upgrade them all the way to the highest tier.

Why You Need to Farm Gems Relentlessly?

Lord of Hatred expansion introduces two higher gem tiers: Horadric Gem and its advanced form, Flawless Horadric Gem. The damage bonuses they provide far outclass anything offered by earlier gems.

  • Horadric Gem: the second-highest tier. When socketed, it grants a 28% damage multiplier.
  • Flawless Horadric Gem: the highest tier currently in the game. Once socketed, and depending on its color, it can supply up to a 32% damage multiplier of the corresponding type.

Crafting Path

With gains this massive, understanding the crafting process becomes essential. Flawless Horadric Gems never drop directly; they must be created through Horadric Cube, and the recipe follows a strict step-by-step ladder:

  • Horadric Gem: Place 5 Grand Gems into Horadric Cube.
  • Flawless Horadric Gem: Place 5 Horadric Gems into Horadric Cube.

This recipe means that crafting a single Flawless Horadric Gem consumes a total of 25 Grand Gems. From the perspective of gem fragments, the requirement is even more staggering. Crafting one Royal Gem demands 100,000 Gem Fragments, while a Grand Gem requires a jaw-dropping 1,000,000 Fragments.

That may sound like an astronomical figure, but the game offers several reliable sources that let you consistently obtain Royal Gems and Gem Fragments.

Seer's Reach Dungeon

Right now, one of the fastest ways to farm Diablo 4 gems is to repeatedly run the new Seer's Reach dungeon. Its greatest advantage is that you need no special seasonal mechanics, no tedious side objectives, and you certainly don't have to take five minutes clearing monsters across the entire map.

This approach skips map clearing altogether. Your one and only goal is to reach and defeat the boss as quickly as possible, then gather the loot.

How to Farm Seer's Reach Dungeon?

Seer's Reach sits northeast of Temis. The dungeon layout is extremely friendly for speed-farming and imposes no mandatory map objectives whatsoever.

The boss chamber is always at the north end of the dungeon. No matter which entrance you take, simply locate a northbound path as early as possible and keep heading north to arrive.

Monsters blocking your way can be eliminated on the fly, but there is no reason to go out of your way to hunt them down. If your skill setup includes Teleport, Dash, Leap, Evade, and various cooldown-reducing or movement-speed-boosting Aspects or Runes, your efficiency will climb even higher.

Speed is the heart of this strategy. Your damage output certainly matters, but if too much time is lost to traveling, efficiency plummets. Make sure to take advantage of every piece of gear that carries movement speed bonuses — such as movement speed affixes on boots and amulets — to cut down the travel time on each run.

Once you stand before the boss, burn it down in the shortest time possible. The boss is the real reason for this run, because it directly drops Royal Gems, the very foundation for crafting higher-tier gems.

After the boss falls, it also drops other high-value materials such as Forgotten Souls, Primordial Dust, and Neathiron, with a chance to drop gear bearing Greater Affixes.

When the dungeon is complete, do not return to town. Simply reset the dungeon from the outside, re-enter, and repeat the loop. Returning to town wastes a significant amount of loading screen time; resetting on the spot is the optimal choice.

Regarding Difficulty Selection

Efficiency is the single most important factor in this strategy. Starting at Torment 1, the boss always drops a fixed amount of 3 Royal Gems, and this fixed number remains identical even at Torment 12. Although some players report a tiny chance for Grand Gems to drop directly at higher difficulties, that is anything but reliable.

On Torment 1, a quick run will consistently net around three Royal Gems, while higher difficulties yield more total loot. Even if you don't use them yourself, a single top-tier gem can currently fetch roughly 500 to 650 million gold on the market. At this pace, you can craft a full set of top-tier gems in under 30 minutes and easily rake in around 3 billion gold.

In summary, farm at the highest difficulty where you can dispatch the boss extremely quickly. If a high Torment tier causes the boss kill to drag on too long, lowering the difficulty to complete the loop faster will, per unit of time, yield better returns.

Refuge of the Lost Dungeon

Another dungeon similar to Seer's Reach is Refuge of the Lost, also located in Temis region. You can enter this dungeon on any Torment difficulty, and its gem rewards are exactly the same. For maximum efficiency, you can absolutely opt for Torment 1 speed-farming. The dungeon's layout is equally consistent, with a clear objective — no convoluted mechanisms or bothersome items to hunt down. All you need to do is free 5 prisoners, then enter the boss chamber and defeat the boss. Monsters along the way can be taken out as you pass.

Seer's Reach may be slightly more efficient, but it could at any moment be deemed overly generous by the developers and get nerfed. When that happens, Refuge of the Lost will be the best replacement.

Both dungeons pose little difficulty; all you need is a character that combines high mobility with strong single-target burst. With just a bit of farming, you can fill your gem stash and be fully prepared to chase Horadric and Flawless Horadric tier gems.
