Diablo 4 Season 13 Dance of Knives Rogue Build Guide | Maximize Poison damage with unlimited rotation

Jun 12, 2026 Author: D4gold

In Diablo 4 Season 13, Rogue performs exceptionally well in all classes. Not only does it farm very fast in the endgame, but its damage output is also surprisingly high, making it one of the strongest classes in the season.

Among the best-performing Rogue builds is Dance of Knives Rogue in Endgame, which excels in both single-target and area damage. The core idea of this build is to maximize poison damage as much as possible, so you need to stack a lot of related damage multipliers.

How Poison Imbuement Works?

Poison Imbuement calculates its damage as follows: based on the base damage of the imbued skill, it applies a powerful DoT effect to the target. This means that to maximize DoT's damage, you should avoid stats that only boost things like Core Damage unless they directly affect the skill's base damage.

Effective Ways to Increase Damage

Rogue's class specialization, Combo Points, increases a skill's base damage, thus boosting poison damage. If you do not mind interrupting your spin, landing three quick basic attacks, and then spinning again, you can take Combo Points specialization to squeeze out extra damage.

The skill description for Dance of Knives clearly states that Attack Speed increases the skill's damage, not the number of knives thrown. Therefore, Attack Speed effectively acts as a base damage multiplier for the skill. As a result, skills that increase Attack Speed, such as Alchemical Advantage, can raise your damage.

Dance of Knives Rogue Skills

Dance of Knives (15/15)

  • Star Shards
  • Pierce and Size
  • Slow and Movement Speed

Dark Shroud (15/15)

  • Shadow Dancer
  • Consume Chance
  • Movement Speed

Smoke Grenade (6/15)

  • Silhouette
  • Charge or Energy Cost Reduction
  • Increased Duration and Damage

Poison Imbuement (15/15)

  • Toxic Touch
  • Duration
  • Cooldown

Shadow Clone (3/15)

  • Relentless
  • Resolve
  • Unstoppable

Concealment (15/15)

  • No Enhancements

Do not choose the critical strike upgrade branch for Poison Imbuement. You need Cooldown Reduction branch to ensure good uptime on the imbuement. Therefore, avoid stacking critical strike chance on your gear.

During combat, you want to keep Shadow Clone active at all times and frequently cast Dark Shroud to gain damage reduction. Try to cover the fighting area with the smoke cloud from Smoke Grenade. Entering the smoke repeatedly triggers the stealth state. Each time you break Stealth, Shadow Clone's cooldown resets immediately.

In practice, you can just keep spinning and constantly press Smoke Grenade. This will permanently maintain your clone, grant you constant Vulnerable and Fortify, and make you very durable.

Specialization

Dance of Knives Rogue mainly has two choices:

  • Combo Points: Increases base damage but requires interrupting your spin to weave in basic attacks. If you enjoy that rhythm, you can adjust your skill bar accordingly.
  • Inner Sight: Solves energy problems directly, allowing you to spin forever, even without Ring of Starless Skies, and achieve unlimited uptime.

Dance of Knives Rogue Talisman

  • Legendary Horadric Seal
  • Berú of the Sightless
  • Linta of the Sightless
  • Phoba of the Sightless
  • Sea Lord's Fine Gloves
  • Mlor of the Sightless
  • Fer of the Sightless

Shadow Clone is one of the key damage-boosting skills for Dance of Knives build. Sightless set provides a total of 380% multiplicative damage and also summons an extra clone that can apply Poison Imbuement as well. Spellbound Steel Set might seem more fitting for this build, but there is currently a bug where Shadow Clone's duplicates cannot benefit from Imbuement enhancements.

Dance of Knives Rogue Gear

  • Mythic Unique Helm: Heir of Perdition (Bac+Que)
  • Legendary Chest Armor: Glynn's Anvil (Neo+Vex)
  • Legendary Gloves: Imitated Imbuement
  • Unique Pants: Shrouded Gift
  • Legendary Boots: Mending Obscurity
  • Legendary Amulet: Writhing
  • Mythic Unique Ring: Ring of Starless Skies
  • Legendary Ring: Conceited
  • Legendary Crossbow: Channeling
  • Legendary Sword: Crushing
  • Unique Dagger: Etna's Lost Dagger

Death's Pavane does not increase the base damage of Dance of Knives, so it is not used in this poison-based endgame build. Instead, Shrouded Gift provides much-needed damage reduction and stealth synergy.

Conceited Aspect, combined with Bac+Que runes, gives you a permanent shield just by spinning in place (the shield has a 3s cooldown, but its duration refreshes before it expires), thus keeping the damage bonus from Conceited Aspect active at all times.

Aspect of Imitated Imbuement is also mandatory; without it, Shadow Clone cannot apply Poison Imbuement. This aspect also provides a huge multiplier for non-basic skill damage.

Writhing Aspect makes DoT damage increase the longer the target remains affected, reaching a 150% boost after 10 seconds.

Aspect of Channeling increases poison damage for both you and your clone, but it does not benefit from Sightless set's damage bonuses.

Defensive Options

For both Rogue and other classes, the most frustrating issue at high torment difficulties is survivability. You can swap to Diablo 4 items with high defensive stats, such as Harlequin Crest or Tyrael's Might. Even without mythic items, it is fine to use any helmet with defensive affixes and put the strongest defensive aspect on it. Cheat's Aspect provides a large amount of damage reduction.

Endurant Faith, a unique glove, is the best choice against large bursts of damage. You can equip it when facing Uber Bosses or other enemies that deal very high damage.

The above covers the essential gear and skills for Dance of Knives Rogue. As long as you are comfortable with DoT builds, this is both the best and the most enjoyable option.
