Diablo 4 Season 12 April Fools' Event Rewards may reveal clues about Lord of Hatred DLC | Exclusive unique items await you!

Apr 03, 2026 Author: D4gold

Compared to most games, which are eager to attract players by hosting crossovers or other limited-time events, Diablo 4 has historically been quite stingy in this regard: despite being live for nearly three years, it has hosted such events on only a handful of occasions.

Aside from recurring fixtures like Mother's Blessing event, which appears in almost every season, the last truly interesting event in Diablo 4 dates back to Berserk crossover held last April.

Fortunately, however, Diablo 4 has launched a brand-new April Fools' Event this April! Although designed to celebrate April Fools' Day, the event itself is very real, not merely a joke confined to social media!

Below, we'll walk you through the details of the event, including how to participate and the rewards you can earn.

Diablo 4 Season 12 April Fools' Event Rewards may reveal clues about Lord of Hatred DLC | Exclusive unique items await you!

April Fools' Event launch date

The event went live on April 1st, April Fools' Day itself, and is expected to run for approximately one week, concluding on April 7th. During this period, whenever you have free time, you can simply wait for the boss to spawn and then engage it in battle.

The second expansion, Lord of Hatred, is expected to launch on April 28th; therefore, releasing April Fools' Event at this time serves to attract a new wave of players and generate increased buzz for the upcoming DLC.

Event participation mechanics

Diablo 4 announced this event via a post titled A Fowl Beast Rages. While the announcement itself is whimsical in tone, the core of the event involves the introduction of a limited-time world boss named Chik'han, a massive chicken creature.

To participate in the event, simply consult the world boss rotation schedule, wait for Chik'han to appear, and then travel to the designated location to defeat it.

Notably, this event is not restricted to Seasonal Realms; your characters in Eternal Realm can participate as well, and there are no additional difficulty prerequisites.

However, to ensure consistent loot drops, it is highly recommended that you tackle the event on Torment difficulty setting.

How to defeat Chik'han?

Given that this is intended as a lighthearted, joke-themed world boss, Chik'han lacks any complex mechanics and presents a relatively low difficulty challenge.

As long as you are playing a reasonably well-geared and optimized character from Diablo 4 Season 12, you should be able to defeat it quite quickly.

What rewards can you earn?

Defeating Chik'han offers a wide variety of potential rewards, including limited-time caches, unique items, "April Fowl's 2026" Feat of Strength achievement, and "Bawk, Bawk" player title.

While some of these items are restricted to specific classes, the associated gear cosmetics, or skins, are obtainable without restriction, serving as a nice bonus.

Additionally, for the duration of the event, you can claim Quake Before Hatchling Profile Emblem gift from the in-game shop; however, be sure to claim it promptly, as it will be removed once the event concludes.

Chi'Khan Spoils

This takes the form of a special Legendary Grande Cache, a type of reward that other standard World Bosses typically only drop upon your first weekly defeat. It can also occasionally appear as a reward from Tree of Whispers.

Opening this cache may yield multiple Legendary gear pieces; the higher the difficulty setting at which you defeated the boss, the rarer the gear tends to be. Furthermore, the cache contains Diablo 4 items featuring GA, rare crafting materials, gold, gems, and more.

Cluckeye Unique Bow

Including this bow, all unique items dropped by Chik'han are of Ancestral rarity. Interestingly, this particular piece of gear previously appeared in Diablo 2, suggesting the development team might have taken a bit of a shortcut here.

  • 595 Damage Per Second
  • 433-649 Damage per Hit
  • 1.10 Attacks per Second (Fast)
  • +100% Critical Strike Damage
  • +14-16% Chance to Cluck Thrice
  • +214-242 Dexterity
  • +978-1,053 Maximum Life
  • Lucky Hit: +30-35% Chance to Daze for 2 seconds

In addition to the basic stats and bonuses listed above, Cluckeye, which is usable exclusively by Rogue class, also increases the likelihood that you will emit a clucking sound while wielding it in combat.

From a purely practical standpoint, this weapon is merely decent at best. However, as an April Fools' reward, Cluckeye's true purpose lies in injecting a dose of absurdity into otherwise intense combat scenarios by filling the battlefield with comical clucking sounds.

Nevertheless, if you have the time and resources to spare, you can subsequently upgrade these limited-time gear pieces, using systems such as Masterworking, to significantly enhance their combat viability.

Cluckonomicon Unique Staff

This piece of gear is usable only by Druid and Sorcerer players. Compared to Cluckeye, the humor of Cluckonomicon lies primarily in its name; its actual stats remain quite serious and standard:

  • 595 Damage Per Second
  • 476 - 714 Damage per Hit
  • 1.00 Attacks per Second (Slow)
  • +214-242 Intelligence
  • +19-33% Shrine Buff Duration
  • +8-12 Pickup Radius
  • +415-452 Life On Hit

Of particular note is the pickup radius stat, as this appears to be its first-ever appearance in Diablo 4 item information, a detail that is quite likely connected to the game's next expansion.

Additionally, Cluckonomicon allows you to gain a stack of Enlightenment by pecking at loose stones. Enlightenment is itself a key passive skill for Sorcerers, providing you with cumulative buffs as you stack it.

Eggcecutioner Unique Two-handed Scythe

This two-handed weapon allows you to generate resources upon securing a kill; if the slain enemy happens to be an elite monster, the resource generation is even greater.

Furthermore, it features a peculiar bonus: enemies slain by this weapon have a chance to lay an egg.

Based on current player feedback, these eggs serve no practical purpose. Attempting to pick one up may cause your character to make a retching animation, followed by a green visual trail effect appearing on the screen, accompanied by a debuff text reading: "The egg has gone rotten."

Eggis Unique Shield

The primary function of this shield is to increase your Barrier generation rate and boost your critical strike chance against enemies currently under the effects of fear.

Additionally, it increases the damage you deal to poultry and, upon successfully blocking an attack, grants a chance to transform other attacking enemies into chickens.

Coop de Grace Unique Polearm

This weapon is ideal for attacking injured enemies; when striking a wounded foe, it not only provides bonus damage and increased critical strike chance but also carries a chance to instantly execute injured non-elite enemies.

As for its April Fools' Day-themed effect, aside from also boosting damage against poultry, Coop de Grace has a chance to summon a flock of explosive chickens whenever you strike an injured enemy.

Just imagine it: a horde of chickens screaming and scurrying across a dark, blood-soaked battlefield, it makes for a truly hilarious spectacle!

April Fools' Event is neither particularly difficult nor exceptionally rewarding; its true purpose lies in boosting player engagement and serving as a warm-up for the new DLC arriving at the end of the month.

That wraps up everything we have to share with you this time. If you're interested, hop into the game right now, wait for Chik'han to spawn, and take it down!
