Diablo fans, Lunar New Year is just around the corner! D4 rarely misses an event, and this year they're once again celebrating Year of the Horse with Lunar Awakening. Players will receive limited-time rewards, extra XP, and special shrine buffs. The event will run from 10:00 AM PST on February 12th to February 26th, and is open to both Seasonal and Eternal Realms players. Enjoy the glory and fun of the limited-time Lunar Awakening event!
Lunar Awakening is essentially a reputation event where players need to collect as much Ancestral Favor Reputation as possible and increase their reputation level to unlock rewards. While this event is similar to previous ones, there are still some noteworthy aspects. Here, we'll not only detail the event itself but also show you how to quickly increase your reputation and win all the rewards.
How to access the event?
First, to begin the limited-time Lunar Awakening event, you must travel to Lunar Night Market located in Ked Bardu. Note that this market is the central hub of the event, where all players can use their collected Ancestral Favor Reputation to redeem Unceasing Gifts from the Ancestors caches and Lunar Renewal-themed cosmetics.
During Lunar Awakening event, there are 10 Ancestral Favor Reputation tiers to unlock. The rewards are substantial, including the rare Resplendent Spark, 6 different event-exclusive cosmetics, and the brand-new Trag'Oul's Consort mount. It's worth noting that unlike previous events, all cosmetic rewards are available to all players this year, regardless of whether you've earned them before!
In addition, a range of Lunar Renewal-themed outfits are available in the in-game shop. You can spend gold to equip your character and mount with new armor appearances!
To be honest, this skin set is basically the same as last year's design, and its re-release is intended to attract players who didn't own it last year to consider acquiring it now. Of course, whether or not to unlock these Diablo 4 items to enhance your character's appeal is entirely up to you.
Lunar Shrines
During Lunar Awakening event, all shrines in Diablo 4 were replaced with Lunar Shrines. Not only was their appearance updated, but their effects were also slightly different, granting double XP for 2 minutes upon interaction. However, based on past events, this effect seems to only apply to killing monsters. Therefore, at least in terms of the best way to gain XP in the game, this isn't the optimal method.
Essentially, Lunar Shrines function no differently from regular shrines, but to celebrate the festival, they have been enhanced, doubling their power. More importantly, these shrines also have unique icons, making them easier to identify from a distance. The specific effects of these enhanced Lunar Shrines are as follows:
- Artillery Shrine: Has a chance to summon a holy bomb after each spell cast.
- Blast Wave Shrine: Each explosion is followed by a cluster bombardment, greatly enhancing the character's AoE damage.

How to obtain Ancestral Favor Reputation?
To earn more reputation during Lunar Awakening, the most important thing is to kill as many enemies as possible while shrines are active.
Since Lunar Shrines spawn in essentially the same locations as regular shrines, the best way to force their spawn, besides keeping an eye out for them while traveling in the open world, is to repeatedly challenge small, dense dungeons.
The best dungeon is Hoarfrost Demise, located north of Fractured Peaks. This dungeon is basically several circular areas connected by a corridor, with an average of one shrine per area. However, this isn't guaranteed; sometimes you might get no shrines at all, and sometimes you might get two. Usually, though, there's only one.
The dungeon's layout is relatively short and easy to navigate, so you can simply move through it while killing as few enemies as possible. This way, when you find and activate a Lunar Shrine, you can earn as much reputation as possible until your Ancestral Favor Reputation reaches around level eight.
In Hoarfrost Demise dungeon, you can easily gain enough reputation; basically, each activated shrine grants a reputation level. If you have a fast-moving, high-damage build, you can simply focus on clearing the two main areas of the dungeon. Once the shrine's effect wears off, leave the dungeon and reset all dungeons in your quest log. Then re-enter the dungeon and repeat the process. This is currently the best way to generate shrines in Diablo 4.
Additionally, it's worth noting that these shrines themselves can be affected by other in-game mechanics. For example, during Accursed Rituals, enemies continuously spawn at an increasing rate until the last boss appears, or the timer expires. If this occurs near shrines, it means you can go on a killing spree; as long as you can kill them while the shrines are active, you'll gain a significant amount of reputation.
Following this approach, you can try farming on Torment 4 difficulty for a chance to double your reputation gain. However, note that the reputation gained also seems to increase with the difficulty of the enemies killed.
In short, reaching reputation level 10 isn't too difficult if you want the rewards, especially Resplendent Spark. However, if you're not particularly interested in the event itself, missing out isn't a big deal.
This year's Lunar Awakening event has relatively little content, essentially the same as previous years. Aside from the shrine changes and XP bonuses, the rest is quite disappointing. Unless they add more content to these events instead of giving us the same cosmetics year after year, fewer and fewer players will participate next year.

Landslide
The core synergy of this setup revolves around Mythic Unique The Basilisk. This weapon petrifies enemies and grants a 130% critical strike chance bonus against petrified foes. When combined with the 20% critical chance inherent to Landslide skill, the total reaches 150%.
