Why Oracle And Warlock Stand Above The Rest in Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred New Class Predictions?

Feb 02, 2026 Author: D4gold

The unannounced new class in Diablo 4's next expansion, Lord of Hatred, has players very curious. Each new class almost always dominates a season. For example, Paladin in Season 11 and Spiritborn in Season 6.

In the trailer, we saw the black silhouette standing behind Paladin. It doesn't look as robust as Barbarian, but that's not much of a clue. Let's speculate based on the official information.

Why Oracle And Warlock Stand Above The Rest in Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred New Class Predictions?

Prediction Principles

While Diablo series has contributed many classic classes to ARPGs, they always avoid making new classes mundane, especially when designing DLC characters. Combining the official design methods in Diablo 4, we can summarize some patterns regarding new classes.

First, a new class cannot be a simple visual replacement of an existing class, and it must have a completely new style and core gameplay.

It also needs to possess unique class mechanics, much like Necromancer's Book of the Dead, and the new class's identity must support a dedicated gameplay system.

Furthermore, game director emphasized that the new class needs to be closely connected to the game world, possessing its own source of power or cultural background. Lord of Hatred DLC will take us to Skovos Isles and confront Mephisto. Therefore, the ideal candidate for the new class should be related to Skovos culture or Mephisto.

Skovos Isles

Skovos Isles is an isolated ancient maritime civilization, appearing in the background descriptions of many Diablo 4 items, and is also the homeland of Amazonian warriors.

Furthermore, the earliest human (Nephalem) civilization originated in Skovos Isles. Newly released concept art features statues of Lilith and Inarius, and many islands are even named after angels.

Candidate Classes

Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred New Class

Amazon

The most likely class for players is undoubtedly Amazon, as Skovos Isles is the homeland of Amazons, and this race will undoubtedly appear extensively in DLC.

Furthermore, Diablo IV currently lacks a true spear-wielding class. Rogue covers ranged attacks with bows and crossbows, but the combination of spears and small round shields lacks a representative class.

However, Spiritborn in the game is already very similar to Amazons, and adding Amazons might result in stylistic redundancy. Additionally, Amazons are an all-female race in the lore, and Diablo IV currently does not have gender-locked classes.

So, is Amazon a high possibility? Not necessarily. Following Diablo's usual practice of releasing DLC, they prefer to introduce new classes, and Paladin has already returned as a class, and the probability of releasing another returning class is low.

Furthermore, considering the trailers, since Skovos Isles is the homeland of Amazons, why release Paladin first? Furthermore, the silhouette in the trailer is a hooded figure, resembling an assassin or spellcaster, which doesn't fit the image of an Amazon.

Oracle

According to the official background information, the new region's society is composed of two major classes: Amazons and Oracles. Oracles are visionaries with a thousand-year tradition of prophecy. Given that the expansion delves into Skovos, introducing Oracle class is logical.

Sightless Eye, the relic originating from Skovos, appeared in Diablo II storyline and is the tool Oracles use for divination and foreseeing the future, so introducing this class isn't too abrupt.

Paladins are primarily a strength class, while Spiritborn leans towards Dexterity. DLC's new classes lack a class focused on Willpower or Intelligence. Additionally, the silhouette's gestures resemble a spellcaster, and it doesn't seem to be wielding a visible weapon. These factors strongly suggest Oracle class.

However, the trailer's description of the new class (lurking on the horizon in darkness) might hint at a darker, more sinister style, which slightly differs from Oracle's prophetic image.

Witch Doctor

Witch Doctor class comes from Diablo 3 and is very popular among players. Its style aligns with official hints.

However, Witch Doctor originates from the jungle region of Kehjistan, not the island-style Skovos Isles. If such a class existed, it would likely have been introduced in the previous expansion, and its minion summoning mechanic is considered a poor imitation of Necromancer.

If it exists, it might be redesigned as a Sea Witch more in the Skovos Isles style, relying on totem manipulation or casting curses, but overall, the likelihood is still low.

Monk

Monk class also comes from Diablo 3 and is beloved by players. However, Spiritborn and Paladins already possess almost all the characteristics of Monk, making it difficult for this class to offer anything new, thus the probability is very low.

Warlock

If Paladin represents angelic power, then Warlock should represent demonic power. Considering Skovos Isles' veneration of Lilith and Inarius, a class opposed to Paladins is quite logical.

The existence of Vizjerei mage clan in the lore, who initially inadvertently summoned demons, might be the origin of Warlock class. Official silhouettes and textual hints also strongly suggest Warlock.

However, compared to Amazons and Oracles, Warlocks have a less direct connection to Skovos culture and require more plot development.

In conclusion, Warlocks and Oracles are the most likely new classes. Their unique concepts allow for many innovative gameplay designs, and their backgrounds are closely connected to the official story. Other classes overlap with existing classes in terms of gameplay and are less likely to appear.
