Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred Endgame Breakdown | Warlock Skills and brand new Lava Fishing

Apr 10, 2026 Author: D4gold

To all Diablo 4 players, we're now at the end of Season 12. Undoubtedly, most players are eagerly awaiting the release of the major expansion, Lord of Hatred, on April 28th. Want to know what's new in Lord of Hatred? Let's take a look!

New Class: Warlock

Warlock is a new class introduced in Lord of Hatred. If you've tried Lord of Hatred, you'll find that compared to Warlock in Diablo 2, the upcoming Warlock offers greater playability and demands more skill management from the player.

In the demo, you have four playable paths to experience as a Warlock: Legion, Vanguard, Mastermind, and Ritualist. This makes Warlock a very diverse class. Warlocks can cast spells from a distance, engage in melee combat, and summon demons for both offense and defense. You'll definitely love this class.

We'll discuss Warlock from Paragon 46, whose ultimate ability deals between 100,000 and 150,000 damage. This is likely an unoptimized build used by the developers to avoid spoilers; the final damage figure is expected to be even higher.Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred Endgame Breakdown | Warlock Skills and Brand New Lava Fishing

A key ability of Warlock is placing a Wall of Agony, which lasts a long time, blocking and quickly damaging monsters. It can be reactivated after a period of time.

Warlock can also use Slam to severely damage enemies. Unlike some classes' fixed-point ultimate abilities, this skill can be cast while the character is moving.

Furthermore, Warlock possesses teleportation abilities, allowing for rapid traversal of battlefields and terrain.

New Area Map

The new area is called Skovos. While the overall map doesn't appear large, it feels quite vast when you actually explore it. The transitions between areas are smooth, and the monster types and environmental design of different zones are highly compatible.

Once the map is fully unlocked, it includes 8 waypoints, 3 strongholds, multiple dungeons, side quests, and a reputation system.

Next, Lord of Hatred expansion will introduce War Plans, an endgame progression system that will allow players to teleport directly from the map to Undercity, skipping the travel process and offering more customized journeys. This will result in a smoother and richer gameplay experience for players.

Unchanged is Tree of Whispers' Grim Favors system, which remains on the map with the same mechanics as the current version.

Stronghold Quest Flow and Storyline

Stronghold quest begins with a tutorial event featuring a curator named Curator Ludea, who has gone mad because of an ancient relic in Infernal Wing.

In the story, two powerful relic represent the balance of angelic and demonic energy. One becomes unstable, and Curator Ludea refuses to leave. Players must find Angelic Anchor.

Players need to pull the statue to lower the drawbridge; during this process, summoned demons will actively attack the statue itself, creating interesting combat interactions.

The final quest scenario involves the player being swallowed by a giant monster, then vomited up after a short time, gaining nearly a full level of Paragon experience and a large amount of loot.

New Monsters and Environmental Interactions

Lord of Hatred will feature a large number of new monsters, including giant crabs, a type of monster that appears in coastal or watery environments. It's somewhat similar to the monsters that crawl out of wells in the underground environments of Diablo 2, featuring a retro design.

Additionally, some buildings will have floating markers that transform as they charge; we speculate this might be a new Talisman or Warlock-specific mechanic.

Skeleton Corpse Bows' ranged attack mechanic has also been upgraded in Lord of Hatred.

New Fishing Feature

Fishing is arguably a more relaxed and casual activity in Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred. Players can use an emote wheel to cast a line in the water, experiencing this timing-testing mini-game, with a chance to win Diablo 4 gold, rare items, experience points, and other rewards. Its mechanics may be similar to Diablo Immoral. The fishing location is the unexpected lava. Fish caught will appear right next to you. Items obtained from fishing may include Darkling and Blue Scale, as well as a unique item called Molten Martyr.

Currently, fishing only seems idyllic; more information awaits official reveal.

Visual Design and Player Expectations

The overall visual design of Lord of Hatred will be more eye-catching than ever before.

Both game scenes and area transitions have seen improvements in visual effects, looking beautiful and more creative. The visual effects inside monster stomachs, in particular, are incredibly cool if you try it out. This will undoubtedly be a major draw for players.

Furthermore, players will experience unprecedented excitement when actually fighting with Warlock.

Specific equipment attributes and most loot details are not fully displayed in the game. Perhaps this is a deliberate choice by the developers to hold back information, providing a surprise for players upon the official release on April 28th.

So, that's all for what you might be interested in regarding the major expansion, Lord of Hatred. These updates have surely attracted many players. Remember to log in on April 28th! Wishing you all the best in the game.
