  • A Complete Guide To Defeat Beast In The Ice In Diablo 4 Season 5 - Locations & Strategies & Rewards

    Aug 14 ,2024

Beast in the Ice is one of the endgame bosses you will face in Diablo 4. While this boss is challenging, the loot and rewards it can drop are crucial to completing the rest of the game’s endgame content, so it’s worth a try. Here’s a strategy guide for locating, summoning, and defeating Beast in the Ice in Diablo 4.

Where Is Beast In The Ice?

Beast in the Ice is hidden in Diablo 4 Fractured Peaks region of Sanctuary, specifically the level 85 Glacial Fissure dungeon. Previously, players needed to craft a sigil to unlock this dungeon. However, with the release of patch 1.5.0, this requirement has been removed, meaning that as long as you reach World Tier 4, you can enter this dungeon directly without having to craft Glacial Fissure Sigil.

What Are The Ways To Summon Beast In The Ice?

There are two ways to summon Beast in the Ice in Diablo 4: The normal and tormented method.

Normal method will summon a level 85 Beast in the Ice, suitable for boss fights. To perform this summon, you need to sacrifice nine Distilled Fear on the altar within the dungeon. This material can be obtained by participating in World Tier 4 endgame content such as Helltides, World Bosses, or challenging Nightmare Dungeons of level 30 and above.

Tormented method will summon a Beast in the Ice upgraded to level 200. To complete this summon, the following items need to be sacrificed on the altar:

    • 27 Distilled Fear.
    • One Stygian Stone: This special item is usually obtained from high-level dungeons over level 60, World Bosses, and Seasonal Caches.

Once you have gathered the required items and are standing in front of the altar, you can choose to summon any version of Beast in the Ice and defeat it in Diablo 4 dungeon battle. For those looking to quickly acquire Distilled Fear and Stygian Stone, consider using Diablo 4 Gold to speed up the preparation process.

How To Avoid Damage And Defeat Beast In The Ice?

Besides its basic melee attacks, which can usually be easily avoided by standing behind Beast in the Ice, this boss has four key attacks to watch out for: Ice Breath, Ice Shards, Airborn Swipe, and Ice Star.

    Ice Breath

When using Ice Breath, the Beast will blast a stream of cold air forward, then turn to track your position. If you notice this, stand behind it or quickly move out of range. It will spawn multiple Ice Shards that move quickly around the battlefield, which can be avoided by moving flexibly or finding gaps.

    Aerial Swipe

Aerial Swipe is a tricky part of this battle; the Beast will fly into the air, cover the edge of the battlefield with a whirlwind, and swipe four lines in a vertical or horizontal direction. This will pull the player into the whirlwind.

For this attack, move to the center of the battlefield immediately. Once you find a safe path, stand on it immediately. During this time, the beast will summon adds. Lure them to the safe area in the center and deal with them there. Otherwise, you may be swept away by the wind. Wait for the swipes to disappear before returning to the center, waiting for the next round of attacks, and then finding a safe area again. Repeat this cycle until it lands and takes damage again.

    Ice Star

During Ice Star, the beast will fire five thick ice lines that will explode into ice shards. To avoid being slowed, you should stand in a safe place. Although the center area may seem safe, it will also explode, so it is not a true safe zone. After ice shards explode, the beast will summon another Ice Star and fire a line in your direction. Quickly move to the next expected safe spot, dodge the attacks, and repeat this process until it ends.

While dodging these attacks, you can look for opportunities to counterattack. If you need to use health potions, don’t worry, because the beast will drop potions when its health reaches 75%, 50%, and 25%. As for preparation before the battle, it is best to take Elixir of Cold Resistance, which will help mitigate some of the cold damage you will suffer. So if you’re not good at dodging or your character is slow, this potion can really help.

Overall, Beast in the Ice can be defeated relatively quickly as long as you can effectively avoid its attack patterns and safely deal damage between attacks.

    What Rewards Will Be Dropped?

Defeating Beast in the Ice will give you a chance to get epic loot and a Pincushioned Doll. Among other things, this is one of the key items used to summon Andariel. Some of the top items that may drop when facing Beast in the Ice include:

    • Fists of Fate (all classes)
    • Mutilator Plate (Necromancer)
    • Paingorger’s Gauntlets (all classes)

So, if you’re after a specific item or need that Pincushioned Doll, here is all the necessary information on how to locate, summon, and defeat Beast in the Ice in Diablo 4. The key thing is, once you have successfully defeated Beast in the Ice and you have the required materials, you can reuse the altar to summon it again without leaving the dungeon.
