Diablo 4 Season 13 Iron Golem Necromancer Build Guide | Reach Pit Tier 120+ without complex rotations

Jun 16, 2026 Author: D4gold

In Diablo 4 Season 13, Necromancer has several strong builds, but among the signature summoning setups, Golem Necromancer remains the best performer.

Iron Golem Necromancer is a laid-back build. Most of the time, you can let your golem handle everything. It also excels in The Pit, allowing you to reach Tier 120 or higher with ease.

Diablo 4 Season 13 Iron Golem Necromancer Build Guide | Reach Pit Tier 120+ without complex rotations

How Iron Golem Necromancer Works?

The core idea is to use other minions as support while pouring all resources into the golem. Though its farming speed is not particularly fast, the golem's single-target damage is exceptionally high, enabling it to take down bosses almost instantly.

Season 13 Changes

Season 13 removed the old prerequisite skill point restrictions and introduced a level-based unlocking system. You no longer need to waste points on basic skills; instead, you can invest directly into core skills, all summoning skills, and their upgrades. This change makes the hyper-focus one skill golem build viable.

Before Season 13, choosing Sacrifice option in Book of the Dead for a certain minion type meant you permanently lost that type. That made logical sense but also imposed a heavy penalty. In Season 13, however, that penalty has been removed. Even if you select Sacrifice for a minion type to gain a bonus, you can still summon and keep those minions. As a result, the golem build can benefit from both Sacrifice bonuses and the presence of other summons on the battlefield.

Book of the Dead

In Book of the Dead, you can choose Sacrifice option separately for skeletal warriors, skeletal mages, and golems. Selecting Sacrifice for all three boosts the golem's damage even further, but Necromancer's own survivability then becomes lacking, and you cannot completely ignore farming needs. Iron Golem provides an AOE stun and its active skill deals area damage, offering good control against groups of enemies - it works better than Blood Golem.

  • Skeletal Warriors (Reaper): Sacrifice - increases golem damage by 60%.
  • Skeletal Mages (Shadow): Sacrifice - provides a barrier for you.
  • Golems (Iron): Iron Golem's active skill creates a shockwave that deals area damage around it.

Paragon Board

Paragon board also contains many nodes that enhance golems or summons, each offering direct and significant improvements. Below are some key nodes:

  • Golem: Increases golem damage based on Willpower.
  • Dominate: Stacks Overpower and boosts damage based on Willpower.
  • Essence: Deals extra damage to non-healthy enemies.
  • Deadraiser: Increases summon damage.
  • Abyssal: Enhances rare nodes within range.
  • Cult Leader: Increases summon damage based on attack speed, up to 100%.
  • Hulking Monstrosity: Increases golem health and damage, plus an extra 60% if you have Sacrifice bonuses from skeletal warriors and mages.

Iron Golem Necromancer Gear

  • Mythic Unique Helm: Heir of Perdition
  • Legendary Chest Armor: Glynn's Anvil (Nagu + Ceh)
  • Legendary Gloves: Reanimation
  • Unique Pants: Blood Moon Breeches (Igni + Gar)
  • Legendary Boots: Exploiter's
  • Unique Amulet: Banished Lord's Talisman
  • Legendary Ring: Hellbent Commander
  • Unique Ring: Pact of Bone
  • Legendary Two-Handed Scythe: Tidal

Heir of Perdition helmet grants critical strike chance and a massive damage multiplier. For this build, you want to stack critical strike chance as high as possible because your summons inherit a portion of your critical strike chance. Moreover, this helmet synergises with Banished Lord's Talisman to produce a notable damage boost.

Glynn's Anvil, besides providing defense, is most valued for its resolve stacks. It offers powerful damage reduction that makes you almost unkillable. This item will be nerfed in Season 14, so you will need other Diablo 4 items to compensate for the loss in survivability.

Blood Moon Breeches give your minions' attacks a chance to automatically cast curses, and they also provide bonus Overpower damage against cursed enemies, further increasing your damage output. For affixes, prioritise a high maximum life roll; other useful affixes can be chosen as needed.

Exploiter's Boots are very effective against groups of monsters and for pushing The Pit. They grant 20% crowd control duration against elites and controlled enemies, and provide up to 50% independent damage bonus against unstoppable enemies. For affixes, aim for movement speed, flexible sockets, and extra essence recovery.

Talisman

  • Legendary Horadric Seal
  • Linta of the Black Shroud
  • Phoba of the Black Shroud
  • Berú of the Black Shroud
  • Fer of the Black Shroud
  • Mlor of the Black Shroud
  • Red Blessing

The talisman's choice directly ties into Overpower mechanic. It provides the maximum Overpower stack count, which you build up by picking up blood orbs. Each stack grants a substantial independent damage bonus, and it also makes Banished Lord's Talisman's damage bonus even higher.

Iron Golem Necromancer Skills

  • Sever (1/15): Inexorable Reaper, Cost Reduction, Crowd Control and Corpse Generation
  • Blight (1/15): Whirlpool, Size Bonus
  • Skeletal Mage (15/15): Coven, Critical Strike Chance, Ferocity / Resolve / Overpower
  • Skeletal Warrior (15/15): Litany of Death, Healing, Resolve
  • Blood Mist (6/15): Blood Transfusion, Critical Strike, Overpower
  • Golem (15/15): Gravebloom, Resolve / Overpower / Ferocity, Damage Bonus
  • Iron Maiden (2/15): Blood Maiden, Ferocity and Overpower, Execute and Fortify
  • Decrepify (1/15): Life Tap, Cooldown Reduction, Resolve
  • Blood Wave (4/15): Overpower, Hematolagnia, Damage Reduction

This build is very durable, but the key is to stack Resolve layers as quickly as possible. Without Resolve, the character is actually quite fragile. For that reason, several skill upgrades focus on stacking Resolve.

Both curses - Iron Maiden and Decrepify - can be triggered automatically via Blood Moon Breeches, so you do not need to cast them manually. Blood Wave is used to maintain Overpower uptime. Select core attributes that provide damage reduction and Overpower generation.

When facing groups of enemies, cast Blight first to pull them together. Then use Blood Wave to ensure full Overpower stacks, followed by activating your golem's active skill. The golem's basic attack deals extremely high damage. Even when its active skill is on cooldown, the golem still delivers a lot of damage through normal attacks alone.

Iron Golem Necromancer is very simple to play. It also has low gear requirements, allowing you to come online quickly and deal massive damage. Though it is not the fastest farming build, it is a lot of fun. Necromancer players who enjoy summoning playstyles should definitely give it a try.
