Before DLC Vessel of Hatred was launched, Diablo 4 series of games had already provided players with the classic Torment difficulty system for players to challenge, so that players could take this opportunity to improve their game operation level.
In Vessel of Hatred, Torment difficulty, as one of the main game combat mechanisms, has been further optimized and updated. Now the new upgrade system replaces the previous world level mechanism, allowing players to decide whether to challenge from normal or hard difficulty based on the amount of Diablo 4 Gold they need to farm.
Based on this, we will introduce you to some precautions for unlocking and challenging Torment difficulty in Diablo 4 DLC.
What Is Torment Difficulty?
In Diablo 4 series of games, players have a variety of difficulty modes to challenge. These difficulties are divided into standard difficulty and Torment difficulty.
The standard difficulty includes Normal, Hard, Expert and Penitent. Torment difficulty is directly divided into four levels of Torment I-IV according to the difficulty level.
In Vessel of Hatred, players will earn better rewards by playing Torment, such as better gear and Glyph upgrades, or more useful Diablo 4 Items to help players advance to higher Torment difficulty levels.
Changes To Torment Difficulty In Vessel Of Hatred
After the update, Torment difficulty in DLC will have Ancestral and Mythic Unique items starting from Torment I. And these items will always have a minimum of one greater affix and drop at the maximum item level of 800. All other items can only go up to level 750.
Players will encounter different debuffs when completing different levels of Torment difficulty, and the rewards obtained after the challenge are also different. For example, when playing Torment I, your Armor is reduced by 250 and Resistances are reduced by 25%. When playing Torment IV, Armor is reduced by 1000 and Resistances are reduced by 100%.
The rewards for Torment I include: new activities and items, 300% more Gold and XP after Monster Kills, Ancestral quality items now available, Increased Legendary, Unique, and Mythic Unique items. The rewards for Torment IV are: 600% more Gold and XP after Monster Kills, Increased Legendary, Unique, and Mythic Unique items.
In addition, at higher Torment levels, you can also get more Gem Fragments to level up your Gem tier even faster.
How To Unlock Torment In Vessel Of Hatred?
Mechanically, the main way for players to unlock Torment in DLC is to continue to make progress in Pit.
When players reach level 60 in the game, they can start to challenge Pit of Artificers, which can also be referred to as Pit. It is actually a Dungeon that can be found in Cerrigar Scosglen and can be activated by interacting with the obelisk.
This activation is a bit like activating Greater Rifts in New Tristram in Diablo 3. This dungeon is full of random layouts and enemies, providing players with a new experience every time they try it.
Before starting Pit journey, players need to obtain three Artificer’s Stones. You can obtain them by participating in Helltides, Tree of Whisper caches, and World boss events. After you have collected all three stones, you can activate Pit and choose a tier.
But if you want to increase the tier of Pit, you must complete Dungeon challenge within fifteen minutes. And the faster you complete it, the more tiers you unlock. For example, if you complete the challenge in four or fewer minutes remaining, you can unlock tier 1. There are currently 150 tiers available for players to unlock in the game, and each new tier unlocks a better reward.
Based on this, players can unlock Torment difficulty level by completing higher-level Pits, both solo and in a group. Each time you reach a new Pit level, you can increase the difficulty of your optional Torment to the next higher level. The specific Torment difficulty levels and Pit levels are as follows:
- Torment I requires Pit level 20
- Torment II requires Pit level 35
- Torment III requires Pit level 50
- Torment IV requires Pit level 65
Once you reach Torment IV level and complete the corresponding challenges, you can obtain the highest level rewards in Vessel of Hatred, thereby unlocking the highest level equipment and items to further improve Build you use.
How To Use Pit For Glyph Improvements?
Previously, the only way to obtain Glyph improvements was to complete Diablo 4’s Nightmare Dungeons. However, Nightmare Dungeons require players to explore and waste time. Now in DLC, Glyphs can be upgraded by Pit running, which speeds up the upgrade process.
Currently, there are additional bonus upgrades for every 20 levels between Pit level and Glyph level in the game. This will allow players to upgrade lower-level Glyphs faster.
That’s how you unlock the different levels of Torment in Vessel of Hatred, and some rewards you can get for challenging them. Hopefully, these tips will help you get through all Torment challenges sooner rather than later!
