As one of the most appealing gameplay features of Diablo 4 Season 11, Sanctification provides significant enhancements to the gear, making it a popular and unchangeable feature among players.
By now, you should have performed at least one Sanctification, and each Sanctification requires consuming one Heavenly Sigil.
Therefore, if you plan to Sanctify your newly upgraded Mythics or unique gear continuously in the latter half of the season, you'll need to accumulate enough Heavenly Sigils. We'll explain in detail how to farm this item.

What are Heavenly Sigils?
This item was introduced with Sanctification mechanic. Its purpose is to help you Sanctify items at Heavenly Forge or teleport you directly to the forge.
However, we generally recommend ignoring the latter, as you can easily travel to the forge via a portal from any major city. All major cities in the game include:
- Fractured Peaks: Kyovashad
- Scosglen: Cerrigar
- Dry Steppes: Ked Bardu
- Kehjistan: Gea Kul
- Hawezar: Zarbinzet
- Nahantu: Kurast Bazaar
It's worth noting that sometimes when you complete Nightmare dungeons or other endgame content, you might trigger a portal directly to Heavenly Forge, allowing you to perform a free Sanctification!
How to unlock Heavenly Forge?
This location isn't directly available after Season 11 launches. You need to complete the season questline: A Divine Missive, follow the quest instructions to find Hadriel, and interact with him to unlock the location of the forge.
Besides using portals in the major cities and using Heavenly Sigils, you can also obtain Divine Invitations by defeating lesser evils before entering Torment difficulty and consume them to teleport to the forge.
How to obtain Heavenly Sigils?
Most endgame events will drop Diablo 4 Heavenly Sigils. You can choose to focus on one event or participate in multiple events when you have enough time and energy to get more rewards.
Defeating world bosses
Season 11 added Azmodan, Lord of Sin, as the new world boss. Other bosses you can fight include Ashava, Avarice, and Wandering Death. You can find them approximately every 3.5 hours at the following locations:
- Fractured Peaks: The Crucible
- Scosglen: Caer Adar
- Dry Steppes: Saraan Caldera
- Hawezar: Fields of Desecration
- Kehjistan: Seared Basin
- Nahantu: The Cauldron
After defeating a world boss, in addition to the regular loot, you will also receive individual chests. Opening these chests gives you a chance to obtain Heavenly Sigils.
It's worth noting that the other way to unlock Azmodan is traveling to southern Zarbinzet and interacting with the three altars, which yields rarer chests, but the boss will also be more difficult to defeat due to the additional power gained.
Clearing Infernal Hordes
First, you need to consume Infernal Compasses to enter Infernal Hordes; this item appears as a reward from other events. Then, you need to defeat enough waves of regular enemies to unlock the boss fight.
Throughout Infernal Hordes fights, you need to collect the special currency Burning Aether, which is used to unlock all the chests obtained after completing a farming run, thus obtaining Heavenly Sigils.
In Season 10, choosing Bartuc, Lord of Chaos, as Infernal Hordes boss is better, as he provides additional rewards, but currently, choosing him or a Fell Council member makes little difference.
Unlocking Dark Citadel caches
This dungeon requires you to have Vessel of Hatred expansion and team up with other players to complete it. The dungeon contains three wings, allowing you and your teammates to choose whether to split up or fight together as needed.
Completing Dark Citadel for the first time each week unlocks Dark Citadel Challenger's Cache, which may include Heavenly Sigils. At other times, you can earn Citadel Coins, which can be redeemed for other rewards at vendors within the dungeon.
It's worth noting that this mechanism had some bugs shortly after Season 11's release, preventing players from properly obtaining rewards; however, this appears to have been fixed.
Running Kurast Undercity
This is another dungeon in Vessel of Hatred, where the main gameplay involves clearing enemies to accumulate Attunement levels; higher levels yield greater rewards.
Additionally, you can increase the drop rate of specific rewards by submitting tributes, which can be obtained from other endgame events or dungeons.
Running Helltides
This event is somewhat similar to Infernal Hordes mechanic, requiring you to collect special currency (Aberrant Cinders) by defeating enemies. These are used to open chests obtained after each battle.
Helltides occur every hour, lasting 55 minutes each time. It's worth noting that in Season 11, you will encounter Duriel, one of the Lesser Evils, as the boss in Helltides, instead of the regular Blood Maiden.
Opening Resplendent Chests
These are uniquely designed golden chests that offer significantly better rewards than regular chests, potentially increasing your chances of obtaining Heavenly Sigils. Additionally, these chests may also provide rare Resplendent Sparks.
Here are the main ways to obtain this treasure chest:
- Farming Temple of Rot Stronghold (can be reset repeatedly)
- Defeating the boss to obtain Abyssal Evasion chests
- Completing Season Reputation Board
- May appear in Tortured Gifts of Rarity provided by Helltides
Advance through The Pit of the Artificer
This is a randomly generated, progressively more difficult dungeon with up to 150 floors, focusing on fast-paced monster kills and boss battles - each challenge has a 15-minute time limit, and success unlocks multiple rewards.
It's worth noting that The Tower dungeon added in Season 11 is somewhat similar to The Pit in mechanics, but the former doesn't offer any substantial rewards; currently, it's only a way to improve your leaderboard ranking.
How to use Heavenly Sigils?
Once you obtain at least one Heavenly Sigil, you can teleport to Heavenly Forge to Sanctify your gear. Each use requires one sigil.
Interact with the furnace and wait for Sanctification menu to pop up. Then, place the gear and Heavenly Sigil into the corresponding slots to obtain a random Sanctification effect (which cannot be changed).
That concludes all the main information on obtaining and using Heavenly Sigils in Diablo 4. If you haven't tried Sanctification mechanism before or don't know how it works, this guide will be helpful!
